    Abstract: A wind turbine blade (80) is provided which comprises a main blade portion and a light detection and ranging (LIDAR) element (86), the main blade portion having a shell (81) defining an outer aerodynamic surface of the blade (80), and the LIDAR element (86) being disposed within a volume (82) bounded by the outer aerodynamic surface and comprising at least one LIDAR system (88) configured to transmit light beams away from the blade and to detect reflected light beams incident upon the blade (80), wherein the shell (81) comprises at least one aperture extending at least partly through a thickness of the shell (81) and containing optically transparent material, wherein the at least one LIDAR system (88) is disposed within a volume (82) bounded by an inner surface of the shell and is positioned to transmit and detect light beams through the optically transparent material, wherein the LIDAR element (86) comprises a housing (90) coupled to a surface of the blade within the volume bounded by the inner surface of the shell, the housing (90) comprising a gyroscope mechanism coupled to the at least one LIDAR system (88) such that an orientation of the at least one LIDAR system is substantially unaffected by movement of the blade (80) so as to vary an angle at which light beams are transmitted through the optically transparent material as the blade moves.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the controlled and automatic tensioning of bolts pre-installed in a flange joint between a hub and a main shaft in a nacelle of a wind turbine as well as to a bolt tensioning system for such method. The method comprises arranging a fixture inside the nacelle and mounting a bolt tensioning tool to the fixture which is mounted movable in an axial direction and in a working area perpendicularly hereto. First the flange joint is rotated to position a first set of bolts within the working area of the bolt tensioning tool, and then the bolt tensioning tool is controlled alternately to move the tensioning tool into a position for tensioning a bolt and to tension the bolt, until all bolts of the first set of bolts have been tensioned. The rotation of the flange joint may be controlled by operating a rotation tool operably connected to the main shaft, gearbox, and/or generator.

    Abstract: A method for operating a cluster (1) of a plurality of wind turbines (2) is disclosed. For each of the wind turbines (2), one or more parameter values of a parameter being indicative for a condition occurring at the wind turbine (2) are derived, based the measurements obtained by the wind turbine (2). In the case that a derived parameter value for a specific wind turbine (2) exceeds a trigger value, measures for mitigating an effect of the condition at the specific wind turbine (2) are initiated. The derived parameter values for the wind turbines (2) of the cluster (1) of wind turbines (2) are compared to an expected distribution (9) of the parameter values. In the case that a distribution of the derived parameter values differs from the expected distribution (9) of the parameter values, the trigger value is adjusted, and the adjusted trigger value is subsequently applied when comparing the derived parameter values to the trigger value.
