Abstract: A device for reception and transmission of electromagnetic waves in the visible and/or infrared spectral region and/or the UV-region, emitted by a gaeous, liquid or solid material sample, to an analytical unit, preferably for the determination of the temperature of the material sample. The device comprises a heat-resistant sleeve, open at the front end, with a light wave guide coupled to the analytical unit. In order to record the electromagnetic waves of high intensity, the device has a heat-resistant protective element, arranged at the front end region of the sleeve, which conducts electromagnetic waves.

Abstract: A device for the chemical analysis of solid or molten material samples, based on laser-induced emission spectroscopy, including a laser source generating a laser beam, a deflection device deflecting the laser beam, a focusing device focusing the laser beam, a device that guides the reflections of a plasma ignited by the laser beam on the material sample to an evaluation device. To arrange the laser source and the evaluation device remotely from the material sample, an arm having at least one movable joint and a cavity for the laser beam is provided between the laser source and the material sample for guiding the laser beam. The deflection device is shaped as a mirror or a prism and is provided at the articulation of the arm, whereby the laser source and the evaluation device are arranged to be independent of the material sample in terms of their movements.

Abstract: The method uses a measuring device which blows a gas into the melt (3) to form a gas-filled cavity (26), with detection of the electromagnetic UV or IR radiation emitted into the latter via an optical system (20) and an associated detector (22). The optical system has a wave scattering device (42) for elimination of the electromagnetic waves oblique to the optical axis (38) of the optical system. Only the waves parallel to the optical axis are received by the detector and/or the optical system is displaced and the optical axis aligned until the detector signal reaches a maximum value.

Abstract: detection of electromagnetic waves. SUBSTANCE: method recording electromagnetic waves emitted by melt, specifically, metal melt includes blow-through of gas to form gas-filled space, observation and evaluation of electromagnetic waves emitted by melt through blown gas and by transmission of electromagnetic waves through optical system to detector to determine temperature and/or chemical composition. To keep out false measurements emitted electromagnetic waves directed obliquely to optical axis of optical system and emitted by edge region of hollow space are excepted from recording by way of cleaning of emitted electromagnetic waves from electromagnetic waves directed obliquely to optical axis of optical system and located beyond limits of permissible radius around optical axis of optical system. For it these electromagnetic waves are deflected beyond optical axis by scattering unit of optical system so that electromagnetic waves more or less parallel to optical axis of optical system alone reach detector positioned after optical system and/or by movement of optical control system of optical axis of mentioned system relative to density till intensity of emitted electromagnetic waves reaches maximum value. EFFECT: exclusion of distortions. 26 cl, 11 dwg

Abstract: To be able to produce metal melts using any metal carriers incurring in metallurgical practice as the charging materials, namely in the most diverse quantitative compositions, a plant for producing metal melts is provided with the following characteristic features:an electric arc furnace vessel (1) provided with one charging opening (11, 21) for a metal melt and/or scrap and/or direct reduced metal, in particular direct reduced iron, and/or ore and at least one electrode (16) and one slag tapping means (22),an oxygen-blowing converter vessel (3) provided with one melt tapping means (41),wherein the oxygen-blowing converter vessel (3) and the electric arc furnace vessel (1) form a unit which is connected via an overflow weir (34) and which is rigidly mounted on the foundation and, wherein the bath surface related specifically to the bath volume is smaller in the oxygen-blowing converter vessel (3) than in the electric arc furnace vessel (1) andthe oxygen-blowing converter vessel (3) shares a common reaction space with the electric arc furnace vessel (1), which space is arranged above the bath level of these vessels. Abstract: In order to produce molten metal from all types of metal carriers used in metallurgy, and in particular from a wide range of quantitative combinations, an installation for producing molten metal comprises the following components: an electric arc furnace (1) having a charge opening (11, 21) for molten metal and/or scrap and/or directly-reduced metal, especially directly-reduced iron and/or ore, and at least one electrode (16) and a slag tapping unit (22); and an oxygen lancing converter vessel (3) fitted with a slag tapping unit (41). Said oxygen lancing converter vessel (3) forms a single unit with the electric arc furnace (1) which unit is connected by means of an overflow weir (34) and rigidly mounted on the base. The bath surface specifically related to bath volume is smaller in the oxygen lancing converter vessel (3) than in the electric arc furnace (1). Lastly, the oxygen lancing converter vessel (3) shares a common reaction chamber with the electric arc furnace (1), which chamber is situated above the bath level of the two vessels.

Abstract: The method of measuring electromagnetic waves emanating from the interior of a melt (3), in particular metal melt, involves blowing gas into the melt (3) to form a gas-filled cavity (26) and observation and evaluation of the electromagnetic waves emitted by the melt (3) through the inblown gas by directing the electromagnetic waves via an optical system (20) to a detector (22) for determining temperature and/or chemical composition. To eliminate spurious measurements, the emitted electromagnetic waves are separated from electromagnetic waves (36, 37, 39, 40) aligned obliquely relative to the optical axis (38) of the optical system (20) and present outside a boundary radius (41) drawn from that optical axis (38). This is done by: deviating these electromagnetic waves from the optical axis (38) in a wave scattering device (42) of the optical system (20) so that only electromagnetic waves aligned more or less parallel to the optical axis (38) of the optical system (20) reach a detector (22) located downstream of the optical system (20); and/or by displacing the optical system (20) and aligning the optical axis (38) of said system relative to the cavity (26) until the intensity of the emitted electromagnetic waves when evaluated reaches a maximum value.

Abstract: A metallurgical vessel has a metal outer jacket (7), a refractory lining (8, 9) arranged inside the metal outer jacket (7) and an opening (1) which passes through the wall (3) of the vessel (4) and is used for the introduction of a lance-shaped piece of metallurgical equipment, preferably a measuring and/or sampling probe (2). In order to prevent plugging of the opening (1), the metallurgical vessel (4) has the following features: - the opening (1) is formed, as seen from the outside inwards, by a part (12) which tapers to a constricted region (11) and a part (13) which diverges from this constricted region (11), - the tapering part (12) is lined with a metal jacket (14) and - the diverging part (13) is formed by a refractory material (18), the heat resistance of which is higher than the heat resistance of the remainder of the refractory lining (8, 9) of the metallurgical vessel (4) (Fig. 2).

Abstract: There are disclosed a method and an arrangement for preventing the agglomeration of crusts in a lance opening passing a wall of a metallurgical vessel and provided for a lance carrying a measuring and/or sampling probe. During the metallurgical process proceeding within the metallurgical vessel and during the taking of a measurement and/or sample by means of a lance introduced into the metallurgical vessel through the lance opening, a gas that is inert relative to a melt bath contained in the metallurgical vessel, or air, is injected into the lance opening from outside, which gas produces a gas veil at the mouth of the lance opening facing the melt bath.
