Abstract: PURPOSE: To surely ignite flame-retardant gas mixtures burner even when oxygen content in exhaust gas is small, by providing a baffle barrier at a specified distance measured from a nozzle's jetting port in nozzle's jetting direction of a fuel jetting nozzle, with the baffle barrier extending in the direction almost perpendicular to the center axis of the fuel jetting nozzle. CONSTITUTION: With the help of pilot flame in a first zone 2a, the gas mixtures in a second zone 2b in a combustion chamber burns with sure. The gas mixtures in the second zone 2b contains the exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine introduced through an inlet 10 as its main fuel. The oxygen content of the exhaust gas, the amount of exhaust gas, and the flow rate of exhaust gas fluctuate largely dependent on the operation condition of the internal combustion engine. A baffle barrier supports mixture of fuel and exhaust gas in the second zone 2b of the combustion chamber 2 by the turbulence of flow generated in the gas mixtures by the baffle barrier 5. During combustion operation of a burner 1, the baffle barrier 5 is heated red, and the heat radiated from the baffle barrier 5 increases inverse-flame ability of the flame at a root zone of the flame based on position of the baffle barrier 5. Thus, a stable flame is maintained even when the exhaust gas of low oxygen content comes in through the inlet 10.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To improve an ignition performance of a burner provided with an ignition device for a mixture air which is difficult to ignite such as an exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine by providing an auxiliary ignition device in which an air supplying device is connected with the ignition device. CONSTITUTION: A burner 1 for the combustible disposition of exhaust gases of an internal combustion engine whose oxygen content changes has a fuel supplying device 4 that has a fuel line and a fuel spraying nozzle and is provided with an auxiliary ignition burner 2 unitedly. The auxiliary ignition burner 2 consists of an ignition device 5, a fuel supplier 6 and a compressed air supplier 3 and the compressed air supplier 3 is installed at a vehicle compressed air system which has an air blower and so forth in a row. Fuel is supplied to each fuel supplying devices 4, 6 by an operation of a fuel pump 8 through diverged pipes and solenoid valves 9, 9a installed at a halfway of each divided pipes are controlled by a controlling device 7 together with the ignition device 5.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To make outputs of a burner rapidly and accurately follow load fluctuation of an engine by performing closed-loop control of the output of the burner on the basis of a function of a temperature generated downstream. CONSTITUTION: Output of an exhaust gas burner 2 for regenerating a particle filter 7 is controlled by using a fuel quantity closed-loop control device 10 to control the fuel from a fuel pump 9. Here, in a closed-loop and a closed-loop output control device 11, an intermediate pressure of an internal combustion engine 3 from an accelerator sensor 15, a speed of the internal combustion engine 3 from a speed sensor 16 and a temperature downstream from the burner in a middle segment 8 from a temperature sensor 17 are inputted as functions based on which the fuel quantity closed-loop control device 10 is controlled. As a consequence, the output of the burner 2 can be controlled to rapidly and accurately follow the load fluctuation of the internal combustion engine 3.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To accelerate combustion reaction by using heat generated in a precombustion chamber to prepare fuel introduced into an afterburning chamber. CONSTITUTION: In a burner 1, a portion of exhaust gas flow is sent into a precombustion chamber 2 and an afterburning chamber 3 by an exhaust gas feed device 10, 10a. Further, a portion of fuel 9a, 9b is fed by a fuel feed device 6 into the precombustion chamber 2 through nozzle holes 8a, 8b of a nozzle 7. Next, due to the combustion in the precombustion chamber 2, at lest a part of the amount of the fuel passes through an opening 14 in a barrier 13 to become a fuel jet 9 fed into the afterburning chamber 3. Here, an auxiliary air feed device 11 is employed to send auxiliary air into the precombustion chamber 2 so as to stabilize the combustion of the exhaust gas. As a consequence, the burner 1 can be attained with a small size since the heat generated from the precombustion chamber 2 is used for the preparation of the fuel jet 9 introduced into the afterburning chamber 3 to accelerate the combustion reaction.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To raise the efficiency of filter regeneration in a unit provided with a soot-filter in an exhaust line and a regeneration device containing a burner for regenerating the filter by enabling a portion of the air charge from a supercharging device to be supplied to an air inlet of a burner. CONSTITUTION: A soot-filter unit 1a arranged in an exhaust line 4 of a four cylinder diesel engine 5 having a supercharging device 2 is arranged downstream of an exhaust turbine 3 for driving a compressor 6 in a suction line of the supercharging device 2. A regeneration device 9 containing a burner 10 arranged in an exhaust line 4 is arranged upstream of such a filter unit 1a. A connection pipe 12 is provided extending from a suction system 8 of the engine 5 to an outlet of the compressor 6 of the supercharging device 2. A solenoid valve 13 which is a regulating device is arranged in the midway of the connection pipe 12. In this way, it is possible to introduce the combustion air of which the volume is regulated into a combustion air inlet of the burner 10.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To regenerate soot filters with high efficiency by activating an exhaust gas burner only if the oxygen content in an exhaust gas has a predetermined high value so as to ensure ignition. CONSTITUTION: A soot filter unit 1 arranged in an exhaust line 12 of a diesel internal combustion engine 13 comprises a soot filter 2 and an exhaust gas burner 3. The exhaust gas burner 3 comprises an ignition device 14 and a fuel feed device 15. An activating device 4 of the exhaust gas burner 3 comprises a control device 5, a turning-on device 6 and a detector 7 for detecting the performance characteristics of the internal combustion engine 13. The turning-on device 6 is connected to the various devices 14, 15 of the exhaust gas burner 3, and inputs the output data of the detector 7 to the control device 5. In this way, the turning-on device 6 is activated only if the oxygen content in the exhaust gas has a predetermined high value so as to ensure the ignition of the exhaust gas burner 3.
