    Abstract: PURPOSE: To surely ignite flame-retardant gas mixtures burner even when oxygen content in exhaust gas is small, by providing a baffle barrier at a specified distance measured from a nozzle's jetting port in nozzle's jetting direction of a fuel jetting nozzle, with the baffle barrier extending in the direction almost perpendicular to the center axis of the fuel jetting nozzle. CONSTITUTION: With the help of pilot flame in a first zone 2a, the gas mixtures in a second zone 2b in a combustion chamber burns with sure. The gas mixtures in the second zone 2b contains the exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine introduced through an inlet 10 as its main fuel. The oxygen content of the exhaust gas, the amount of exhaust gas, and the flow rate of exhaust gas fluctuate largely dependent on the operation condition of the internal combustion engine. A baffle barrier supports mixture of fuel and exhaust gas in the second zone 2b of the combustion chamber 2 by the turbulence of flow generated in the gas mixtures by the baffle barrier 5. During combustion operation of a burner 1, the baffle barrier 5 is heated red, and the heat radiated from the baffle barrier 5 increases inverse-flame ability of the flame at a root zone of the flame based on position of the baffle barrier 5. Thus, a stable flame is maintained even when the exhaust gas of low oxygen content comes in through the inlet 10.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To enhance heat exchanging efficiency while making compact a heat exchanger by providing a combustion chamber surrounded by a heat exchanger having inner fins wherein the heat exchanger of a heating device surrounded by heat transfer liquid flow has a quadrangular design and a flat bottom. CONSTITUTION: Inner fins 9 extend radially inward and each fin has a free end 11 located on a circle having center representative of the central axis 12 of a heat exchanger 3 and the combustion chamber 2 of a heater 1. Consequently, the free ends 11 of the inner fins 9 define an inner space 13 of substantially circular cross-section in the heat exchanger 3. The inner space 13 contains the combustion chamber 2 defined by combustion tubes 14. Various types of baffle 21 exist on the outer wall surface of a heat exchanger defining a flow passage 22 for liquid heat exchanging medium 5 formed between adjacent pairs of battle 21 for guiding the flow of the medium 5. Major part (about 80%) of the flow of the medium 5 entering through an inlet area 19 passes directly to the closed end 8 of the heat exchanger 3 and the remaining 20% passes to the outer wall surface thereof.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To restrain discharge of toxic substance and stabilize combustion in a burner type vehicle auxiliary heating device by deciding air ratio based on the flame temperature measured in a combustion chamber. CONSTITUTION: The sensor 10 of a flame temperature detecting device 8 is arranged in a combustion chamber 2, extendingly provided from the flame root to the extreme end part of the flame, and detects the flame temperature and inputs to a device 9. The device 9 obtains the air ratio λ from a graph indicating relation of the flame temperature and the air ratio. By the air ratio λ, the ratio of an air quantity supplied to a burner 3 to the fuel quantity supplied to it is controlled. By this constitution, the discharge quantity of toxic substance can be restrained and combustion can be stabilized.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To supply a more preferable combustion air flow to a burner, so that, particularly, the capacity of the burner may be optimized and the environmental pollution may be reduced, by making the combustion air flow in the space section formed of sleeve members surrounding a burner member on the way to a combustion chamber. CONSTITUTION: In a heating device, sleeve members 14 form an annular space section which works as a combustion air chamber 15 around a burner member 10, so that the volume of the space section may become adaptive to a desired heating device shape to optimize the combustion characteristic of the burner. In addition, since the prescribed air quantity of the chamber 15 is fundamentally independent from the size and design of a burner head housing section 2a, the heating device can be operated quietly by avoiding such an air quantity having a tendency to generate vibrations. Moreover, since a housing member 2 and the burner head housing section 2a can be separated thermally from the burner member 10 by means of the sleeve members 14, the burner member 10 is hardly affected by the temperature of the housing member 2.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To enhance engine preheating performance and indoor heating performance by circulating a coolant through an entire coolant circulation path up to a first predetermined temperature, circulating the coolant between the intake and outlet of a heating device at temperatures equal to or higher than the first temperature and up to a second temperature, and then gradually returning the coolant to circulation through all circulation paths. CONSTITUTION: When a fuel-operated heating device 7 is turned on, a bypass line 10 is closed by a control valve 11. A coolant is circulated within an engine 2, the heating device 7, and a vehicle heater 4 as long as the temperature detected by a temperature sensor is not higher than a first temperature which is about 30 deg.C at a maximum. Until the coolant temperature exceeding the first temperature has reached a second temperature of about 70 to 80 deg.C, the control valve 11 is opened to allow a large amount of coolant to flow through the bypass line 10 to reduce the amount of coolant passing through the heating device 7 so as to increase heating rate. After reaching the second temperature, the control valve 11 is gradually closed to return the coolant to circulation through all circulation paths. Engine preheating performance and heating performance can be enhanced by this constitution.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To facilitate maintenance for a heat exchanger or other component parts by providing a contact type temperature sensor for stopping a heater to prevent overheat of a temperature sensitive part on the outside of a jacket casing and in the heat transferring state to the heat exchanger. CONSTITUTION: A contact type temperature sensor 12 functioning as a temperature safety device is arranged on the outer surface of a jacket casing 7 near a closed end of a heat exchanger 5. A projection 13 is formed in an arrangement area for the contact type temperature sensor 12 of the heat exchanger 5, and a projection 14 is formed on the opposite side to form a direct contact part between the jacket casing 7 and the heat exchanger 5. Thus, the contact type temperature sensor 12 and the heat exchanger 5 are connected to each other to be thermally conductive. The sensor 12 is connected to a control device by lines 15, 16. This arrangement simplifies the constitution for heater protection.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a heater for an automobile capable of rapidly supplying a heat into a vehicle by avoiding a dangerous heat transfer medium state like a steam bubble generation. CONSTITUTION: The heater for an automobile comprises a heat transfer medium circuit 9. The medium includes an at least one heat exchanger 14 attached with a vehicle heating fan 15, a heating unit 11 operated by fuel, a circulating pump 10 and a temperature sensor 17. A rotational speed of the pump is controlled by a controller 18 depending upon the medium temperature detected by the sensor. When the medium temperature is raised in at least a partial range of the heating operation, the controller 18 controls the speed of the pump 10 in response to the set temperature raising speed (temperature change per unit time) as a target value as compared with the actual value detected through the sensor 17.

CONSTITUTION: A receiver 8 of a radio remote controller constitutes a self-contained system unit 9, together with an operation controller 7. Because the receiver 8 which is conventionally arranged at the rear area 11 of a vehicle room cooperates with the controller 7 and constitutes the unit 9 in this way, other electric wiring work becomes unnecessary. As a result of this, the total cost of installing a radio remote controller is reduced, and the only necessary electric wiring system is the electric wiring system 6, that is installed between a vehicle auxiliary heating system 5 and the unit 9.
