Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To position a piston ring without performing additional precision machining on a piston and/or the piston ring. SOLUTION: This piston.piston ring assembly 10 includes a piston ring positioning member 24 for checking substantial rotation of the piston ring in a piston ring groove. A notch part 32 is arranged on a side wall 20 of the piston ring groove, and abutting pocket parts 38 are formed in both end parts of the divided piston ring. The piston ring positioning member 24 is a flattened wire clip, and is arranged between the piston ring and the side wall 20 of the piston ring groove. One section part 28 of the clip is bent to be arranged in the notch part 32, and another section part 40 is bent to be arranged in the pocket part 38 to thus check the rotation of the piston ring.
