    Abstract: A bipolar output charge pump circuit 100 is provided having a network of switching paths 110 for selectively connecting an input node (VV) and a reference node (VG) for connection to an input voltage, a first pair of output nodes (VP, VN) and a second pair of output nodes (VQ, VM), and two pairs of flying capacitor nodes (CF1A, CF1B; CF2A, CF2B), and a controller for controlling the switching of the network of switching paths. The controller is operable to control the network of switching paths when in use with two flying capacitors (CF1, CF2) connected to the two pairs of flying capacitor nodes, to provide a first bipolar output voltage at the first pair of output nodes (VP, VN) and a second bipolar output voltage at the second pair of bipolar output nodes (VQ, VM).

    Abstract: An amplifier is disclosed, having an input stage connected to an output stage. The input stage is connected between a positive supply rail and a ground rail and has an input terminal arranged to receive an input signal. The output stage is connected between a positive supply rail and a negative supply rail and has an output terminal. The output stage is adapted to generate an output signal, which is dependent on a received input signal, at the output, and is further adapted such that, in use, a quiescent voltage at the output terminal is at a selected value between a voltage on the positive supply rail and a voltage on the negative supply rail. For driving a grounded load, the quiescent output voltage is preferably zero volts. In preferred embodiments, the input and output stages are formed on a common substrate using CMOS technology, the output stage including one or more NMOS devices having a triple-well structure. A corresponding method of driving a grounded load is also disclosed.

    Abstract: The switched capacitor voltage converter 102, which may be used to provide a high voltage to bias a MEMS microphone, causes dips in the reference voltage VBG in each cycle because charge is taken from this node to recharge the input capacitors CCP and CCPB. The control circuit 201 of the reference voltage generator acts to restore the reference voltage, but this action is accompanied by a transient in the voltage VPG at the gate of the transistor 202. The current IXA in the transistor 202 may be mirrored in transistor 301 to provide a bias current IXB to a source follower preamplifier (103, figure 3) for the MEMS microphone output signal. To prevent the transient in the node VPG causing a transient in the preamplifier bias current IXB, the switch 601 is opened for a short time interval whenever either of the capacitors CCP or CCPB is connected to the reference voltage VBG. The capacitor CC2 reduces the duration of the transient.
