Abstract: A system and method for extracting key information from digitized audio messages, including telephone voice messages. Information, such as a telephone number and the name of the caller, is derived and extracted from a voice message and used to establish links to the information within the message. The telephone number and name of the caller can then be replayed without the need to replay the entire voice message. The telephone number and name of the caller can also be used as indices into an information database.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scanning pen which has plural modes for scanning and processing different data types and is used for an information management system by containing a user feedback device responding to an execution input mode. SOLUTION: A scanning pen 2410 as an input device contains a mounted controller 2412, a data interface 2414 (infrared or RF radio link and the like), an optical scanning head 2416, a manual scanning controller (at least one push key) 2418, a visual feedback mechanism 2420 (display light or display screen), an audio or feeling feedback mechanism 2422 and a mounted storage device 2424. A display screen 2420 operates to recognize a recognized character positioned below the scanning head 2416 and the present mode of the pen 2410 to a user. Thus, the mode can be changed by a manual operation by scanning a digital code printed in a mode book.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a skillful user interface for dealing with physical operation by connecting a first device so as to practically simultaneously communicate with second and third devices in order to dispatch data based on a spatial position. SOLUTION: A device 10 has a deformed surface 20 having a deformation sensor mesh 22 on the bottom side for detecting surface deformation within the plural small areas of the deformable surface 20 or over these areas. The deformation sensor mesh 22 is connected to a processor 24 internally preserved while having a connected memory system 26. The sensor mesh 22 is intended so as to contain the combination of plural sensors and sensor types, and used over the entire part or one part of the deformable surface 20. A morpheme input to be used together with a morpheme input detected by the sensor mesh 22 can improve accuracy and flexibility in the control of the device 10 by a user.
