    Abstract: A development station (100) in an electrostatographic imaging machine supports longer operational life without undue variation in the mass of developer on roll parameter. The development station includes a developer housing (12), for retaining a quantity of developer having semi-conductive carrier particles and toner particles, a first magnetic roll (36) having a stationary core (154) with at least one magnet (158) and a sleeve having longitudinal grooves that rotates about the stationary core of the first magnetic roll to transport developer to a photoreceptor, a second magnetic roll (38) having a stationary core (164) with at least one magnet (168) and a sleeve (160) having longitudinal grooves that rotates about the stationary core of the second magnetic roll to receive developer from the first magnetic roll and present the developer to the photoreceptor, the sleeve of the second magnetic roll being fabricated from a material that is softer than the sleeve of the first magnetic roll.

    Abstract: A bearing support for use in a process cartridge including a roll rotatably mounted to a housing is provided. The roll is used for transporting marking particles to a latent image to form a developed image. The bearing support supports the roll and provides an electrical path between the roll and a voltage source. The bearing support includes a body having a first feature for cooperation with the roll and a second feature for cooperation with the housing. At least one of the first feature and the second feature provides for rotatable motion between the housing and the roll. The bearing support further includes a third feature for providing an electrical path between the roll and the voltage source.

    Abstract: An electrostatographic process cartridge (100) is detachably mountable into a cavity defined by mated modules forming parts of an electrostatographic reproduction machine having a copy-volume capacity limited by a waste toner sump capacity. The process cartridge (100) includes an elongate housing having walls (102,104,106) defining a process chamber (118); and a rotatable endless photoreceptive member (84) mounted within the process chamber (118) and to the housing. The photoreceptive member (84) has an image bearing surface for holding a formed toner image, a conductive layer, and a closed loop path within the process chamber (118). The process cartridge also includes a high voltage electrostatographic charging device (76) mounted to the elongate frame and along the closed loop path for applying a layer of electrostatic charge to the image bearing surface of the photoreceptive member (84); means (92) for forming on, and transferring from, the image bearing surface, a toner image; and means (68) for transferring the formed toner image onto a substrate. Importantly, the process cartridge includes a non-metallic electrically conductive grounding pin (160) mounted to the frame and in contact with the photoreceptive member (84) for aligning and grounding the photoreceptive member (84), so as to prevent photoreceptive member discharge current from passing to an adjacent machine imager module forming latent images on the charged image bearing surface.

    Abstract: A charging apparatus (76) for applying a uniform electrostatic charge to a charge retentive surface is provided. The charging apparatus is operably electrically connectable to a power supply for supplying an electrical bias to the charging apparatus. The electrical connector extends from the shield and is integral therewith.
