Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize the preparation and the manufacture of a coating member which can be adjusted to required specific resistance and which is provided with an excellent electrical, chemical and mechanical characteristic in addition to excellent adaptability by including a polymer and the mixture of two or more kinds of carbon black in a transfer member. SOLUTION: Under the effect of the electrostatic force field of the bias transfer member 4, an electrified grain-state toner material is attached and transferred to/on a copying sheet 16 from a photoreceptor 10. The transfer member 4 is constituted by including the polymer and the mixture of two or more kinds of carbon black. Then, the first carbon black whose grain size is about 1 to about 100 μm and the second carbon black whose grain size is about 1 submicron to about 1 μm are included in the mixture of the carbon black. Besides, the first carbon black having the surface specific resistance of about 10-1 to about 103 Ω-cm and the second carbon black having the surface specific resistance of about 103 to about 107 Ω-cm are included in the mixture of the carbon black.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating layer capable of adjusting conductivity and excellent in various characteristics by forming a resistance heating layer with carbon black of multiple different kinds. SOLUTION: A copying sheet 16 transferred with a developed image is sent to a fusing mechanism 19 to pass between a fuser roll 24 and a press roll 28, and the developed image is fused and fixed on the copying sheet 16. The fuser material of the fuser roll 24 is made of the carbon black mixed with the graphite carbon black having the grain size of 0. 1-100 μm and the conductive carbon black having the grain size of 10-80 nm and a nature different from that of graphite. A coating excellent in electrical, chemical and mechanical characteristics is obtained, the conductivity can be controlled, the warming-up time of the fuser material is shortened, a high-temperature operation is allowed, and power consumption can be saved.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for removing dust particles deposited on the rear side of an image forming surface of a photoreceptor belt or drive rollers. SOLUTION: This foamed pad type cleaning device 94 consists of 1) an endless conductive foamed pad belt which has conductive foamed pads 110 extending outward from a base body 190 and is electrically biased, 2) rollers 102, 104, 106 and 108 around which the foamed pad belt is put and 3) flicker bars 120 which remove the collected particles from the foamed pads 110. One of the rollers supporting the foamed pad belt is the drive roller which moves the foamed pad belt by rotation and brings the clean foamed pads 110 into contact with the rear side of the photoreceptor belt 12.
