Abstract: The architecture comprises a marking device (110) which has an application program interface. The device stores device specific status information, to provide available service from service host (310). A device model agent (120) provides a runtime environment for the marking device to interact with service hosts through common interface. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method flexibly supplying improvement of a device after the delivery to a user. SOLUTION: A distributed system 1 allows a recording device 110 and the like to subscribe to and run device-centric services 140. A device model agent 120 allows the device 110 to interact with service host 310 of a service provider 300 to automate supplies maintenance, user help and services subscription. The device model agent 120 can be embedded in the device 110, can be deployed in an add-on component 115 connected to the device 110 or executed by separate machine as a proxy 220. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform the fault prediction and diagnosis of an electronic system operated in a network environment. SOLUTION: The operating state of an electronic system 200 such as a printer is transferred from a status information circuit 250 through a link 75 to a diagnostic server 100 as status information. A data collecting circuit 140 transgress the copy of the status information to a data base 170 and a predictive/diagnostic circuit 150. A repair scheduling circuit 165 determines correcting and repairing operation on the basis the status information. The diagnostics server can start the automatic repair sequence of the electronic system 200 by a control signal.
