Abstract: Improved document handling for a xerographic copier is disclosed with a document input tray closely adjacent one edge of the copying platen. Book copying on the same platen edge is provided by pivotally mounting the document input tray to lift vertically rearwardly away from the platen along a hinge line at the rear of the input tray. A fixed document output tray below the input tray provides a supporting surface downwardly sloping away from the platen for supporting the unsupported portion of a book being copied on said platen.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture an electronic recording paper on which an alteration remains as a proof in the case the alteration is applied on a content recorded on a document. SOLUTION: An electronic recording paper with altered history recording function is formed of an upper sheet 100 of the electronic recording paper and a lower sheet 200 stuck together on which patterns of the electronic recording paper are formed. When an attempt to erase a content recorded on the upper sheet 100 is applied, patterns on a corresponding part of the lower sheet 200 is also erased. The alteration of the content recorded on the electronic recording paper with altered history recording function, therefore, is displayed and detected in the form of alteration of the patterns on the corresponding part of the lower sheet. In the case of constituting the electronic recording paper with altered history recording function is formed of a single sheet, sophisticated patterns such as patterns including cipher codes or the like are printed on the sheet. Even in the case of such a constitution, when the alteration of erase is applied to the content recorded on the electronic recording paper, the cipher code portion is erased and the proof of alteration remains thereon.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce or eliminate the possibility of duplicating originals of secret or guaranteed documents by a copy, an electrically processing method, etc., using a photograph or an electronic device. SOLUTION: In this method a facility is provided which has an electronic printer equipped with at least a kind of access controlling mechanism, and original documents are printed by the access-controlled electronic printer so that an image printed by it is produced at least from marking materials containing at least a kind of a photoactive additive, and a reproducing device of all the access non-controls is installed in the facility provided with an illuminating light source for secrecy with which an intended secret or guaranteed documents are irradiated with an intensity enough to activate the photoactive additive. Moreover, the facility has such a configuration that the intended secret or the guaranteed documents are irradiated with the illuminating light source of the access non-control reproducing device, and a printed image of the original document can not be copied or scanned at ordinary copying or scanning illumination intervals.

Abstract: Tamper-evident electric paper is made of two sheets of electric paper (100,200) bonded together, the bottom sheet of which includes a pattern. Any attempt to erase a writing on the top sheet of electric paper results in the pattern on the bottom sheet of electric paper being erased. Therefore any tampering by erasure of a writing on the tamper-evident electric paper is revealed by the absence of a portion of the pattern on the bottom sheet of electric paper. Single sheet tamper-evident electric paper (300) has a complex pattern (310), such as an encryption, printed on a single sheet of electric paper. Any attempt to erase a writing on the electric paper also erases a portion of the encryption, thereby providing evidence of tampering.
