Abstract:
A print media sheets trailing edge knockdown stacking assistance system (100,52,14), in a compiler or other stacking system with a substantial sheet gravity drop, activated for each ejected sheet (12) to move substantially linearly and perpendicularly downwardly from above, but adjacent to, the sheet ejection position to engage a sheet end area and rapidly push it down towards the underlying stack of sheets (18) and into engagement with any sheet compiling device, then automatically rapidly reciprocally lifting up out of the way above the sheet ejection position before another sheet is ejected, without any significant pause between its up and down movements.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a bundled compiler by accurately stacking sheets discharged from a front stage. SOLUTION: To support the stacking of sheets 12 when forming a sheet bundle 18 by discharging the sheets 12 of thin printing medium continuously from the sheet discharge position of a roll 15 and dropping by the gravity for stacking in this sheet stacking support system, a vertical tamper system 5 is started when a signal indicating that a sheet side-edge part is just discharged or is being discharged from the sheet discharge position occurs at a sensor 14. The system 5 allows the tamper 52 to abut on the side-edge part of the discharged sheets 12 by moving it from the upper side of the sheet discharge position, and generally linearly pushes down the sheets 12 toward the tray 16 on the lower side. Next, the system automatically departs rapidly from the pushed down sheet 12 before the next sheet 12 is discharged from the sheet discharge position, and reversely rises to the sheet discharge position.
