    Abstract: A compound comprising a boron subphthalocyanine moiety, a plurality of solubilizing substituents positioned on peripheral cyclic groups of the boron subphthalocyanine moiety and an axial substituent positioned on the boron atom. The plurality of solubilizing substituents comprise an oxygen or sulfur containing functional group and a substituted or unsubstituted, linear, branched or cyclic, aliphatic or aromatic terminal hydrocarbyl group that is 8 or more carbon atoms in length, the hydrocarbyl group optionally containing one or more heteroatoms. The axial substituent is a cyclic group selected from the group consisting of heterocyclic amine groups, diaryl ketone groups, benzotriazole groups, benzyl alcohol groups and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon groups, the cyclic group being bonded to the boron atom by an oxygen containing linking moiety, the cyclic group optionally being substituted with one or more additional substituents. If the axial group is a benzyl alcohol group, the alcohol substituent of the benzyl alcohol is not the oxygen containing linking moiety.

    Abstract: A dye compound of formula 1: (1) where R and R’ are substituents independently selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom, C1 to C4 alkyl and a solubilizing moiety comprising a substituted or unsubstituted C10 to C70 hydrocarbyl group. At least one of R and R’ is not a hydrogen atom or C1 to C4 alkyl. R’’ and R’’’ can be independently selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom, C1 to C6 alkyl groups or halogens; and X is a squaric acid moiety. A property of the dye compound is that it absorbs radiation having a wavelength in the range of about 700 nm to about 1400 nm.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide solid ink formulations that provide tack and impart robustness to a printed ink by direct-to-paper printing or other printing technologies.SOLUTION: A phase change ink composition includes: at least a first semi-crystalline material having a high amorphous content; and at least a second semi-crystalline material having a high crystalline content. A resulting phase change ink has a viscosity ranging from about 0.1 cp to about 15 cp at a temperature ranging from about 60°C to about 145°C. The first semi-crystalline material having the higher amorphous content comprises a material selected from the group consisting of gel di-amides, tetra-amides having straight and branched carbon chains, gel tetra-amides, urethanes, and combinations thereof. The second semi-crystalline material having the higher crystalline content comprises methyl-amides with straight chain acids.
