    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide toners containing carbon blacks with lower levels of surface contaminants that affect charging characteristics, and a method of measuring the levels of the surface contaminants.SOLUTION: Disclosed is a process for preparing toner particles which comprises: (a) selecting a carbon black; (b) measuring the surface level of sulfur of the carbon black by an X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy to ensure that the surface level of sulfur is about 0.05 atomic percent or less; and (c) mixing the carbon black with a resin to generate a toner composition.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an economical and environmentally friendly method for producing, from high molecular weight PE feed stocks, PE-waxes with reduced molecular weight and narrow polydispersity used for toners and inks.SOLUTION: To obtain waxes from recycled polyethylene, an apparatus comprising a heating mantle 15, a glass resin kettle 10 with a mixer, a distillate collection 20, and a decompression pump is used to heat polyethylene under reduced pressure 10 mmHg to approximately 400°C for de-polymerization, and wax fragments obtained by the de-polymerization are simultaneously distilled to remove small wax fragments. The small wax fragments have molecular weights of about 200 to about 2000, and polydispersity of about 1.01 to about 1.5.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that polyester toner is prepared using amorphous polyester resin and crystallization polyester resin, plasticization occurs when combining the amorphous resin and crystallization resin in such a blending composition, with a result that the glass transition temperature of toner decreases, and the glass transition temperature of obtained toner decreases to or below temperature in an electrophotographic apparatus/device, which may cause an image defect as a result.SOLUTION: A binder resin system contains amorphous resin, crystalline resin, and fatty acid salt. Plasticization is reduced by the presence of fatty acid salt. In other cases, such plasticization occurs when amorphous resin and crystallization resin are combined. As a result of this, the glass transition temperatures of the binder resin and an arbitrary toner produced together with the binder resin increase. The toner produced together with the binder resin also contains arbitrarily selected components (arbitrarily selected colorant, arbitrarily selected wax and a combination thereof).
