    Abstract: A cylinder has at least one valve seating surface-forming portion which has an outer surface formed therein with at least one recess, the bottom surface of which serves as a valve seating surface. A discharge valve is arranged on the outer surface of the valve seating surface-forming portion to close or open outlet holes formed in respective ones of the valve seating surface at locations where the wall thickness of the cylinder is the minimum. The discharge valve has at least one elastic valve body having an arcuate cross section and disposed in tight contact with a corresponding one of the valve seating surface. The valve seating surface is arcuately concavely curved with almost the same radius of curvature as that of the valve body of the discharge valve.

    Abstract: A variable capacity vane compressor (l) has a pressure chamber formed in one side blocks (9) of a cylinder (2) and communicating a zone under lower pressure with a zone under higher pressure, and at least one second inlet port (23) the opening angle of which is variable in response to a difference between pressure within a first pressure chamber (271) of the pressure chamber and pressure within a second pressure chamber of same. The second pressure is communicated with the zone under higher pressure via a high-pressure communication passage and with the zone under lower pressure via a low-pressure communication passage. A control valve device (33) extends across the high-pressure communication passage (29) and the low-pressure communication passage (28), and is disposed to close the low-pressure communication passage (28) and simultaneously open the high-pressure communication passage (29) when pressure within the zone under lower pressure exceeds a predetermined value, and to open the low-pressure communication passage (28) and simultaneously effect one of closing and reduction of the opening area of the high-pressure communication passage (29) when the pressure within the zone under lower pressure is below the predetermined value, whereby the capacity of the compressor can be varied with high responsiveness.

    Abstract: A variable capacity vane compressor comprises additional refrigerant inlet ports (23) formed in one of front and rear side blocks (8, 9) of a cylinder (7) accommodating a rotor (10), and communicating a suction chamber (17) with a compression chamber (19) on a suction stroke, and a control element (24) received in a recess (22) formed in an end face of the above one side block (8, 9) facing the rotor (10), for rotation to vary the opening angle of the additional inlet ports (23) to thereby control the compression commencing timing of compression medium. At least one spacer (70, 71) is interposed between the control element (24) and at least one of the above one side block (8, 9) and the rotor, for maintaining a predetermined minimum clearance therebetween.

    Abstract: A variable capacity vane compressor comprising a control element (24) having at least one pressure-receiving protuberance (26) dividing a space into a first and a second pressure chamber, wherein the control element angularly moves in response to a differential pressure between the first and second pressure chambers, to vary an opening angle of a second portion of at least one inlet port. The control element has mounted thereon a sealing member (31) for sealing between the first and second pressure chambers and between a low pressure chamber and a vane back pressure zone. The sealing member comprises a first sealing portion (31a) for sealing between a peripheral wall surface of a central bore in the control element and an inner peripheral side wall surface of an annular recess in a side block, a second sealing portion (31b) for sealing between an outer peripheral surface of the control element and an outer peripheral side wall surface of the annular recess, a third sealing portion (31c) for sealing between an outer peripheral edge of the pressure-receiving protuberance and the wall surface of the space, and a fourth sealing portion (31d) for sealing between an axial end face of the control element and a bottom wall surface of the annular recess.
