Abstract: An optical sampling system including: a electromagnetic radiation source for emitting electromagnetic radiation of at least a first and second wavelength having a predetermined phase relationship; with the first wavelength having a first absorption characteristic to a sample medium and the second wavelength having a second absorption characteristic to the sample medium; an electro-optic modulator for combining and modulating the first and second wavelengths to produce modulated wavelength radiation; a sampling volume for projecting the modulated wavelength radiation through a sample medium to produce sample attenuated radiation; and an optical sensing unit for sensing the relative attenuation of at least the first wavelength relative to the second wavelength.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for detecting a whitening effect of an LCD are provided to correctly detect the whitening effect by comparing LCD driving data with LCD driving data stored in an LCD module. LCD driving data are transmitted to a memory within an LCD module so as to be recorded in a memory(S1). The LCD driving data are read from the memory(S3). The transmitting data are compared with the read data. A static electricity detection process is performed to detect static electricity from an LCD module. The whitening effect of the LCD is determined when the difference between the transmitting data and the read data is over a predetermined rate and the generation of the static electricity is detected(S5).

The upper part 32 has a sector part 32a intercepting the irradiated light and the sector part 32b transmitting the irradiated light. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for determining a motion direction of a human in a doorway includes a detecting unit installed at one side of a structure for detecting a motion direction of the human being moved and having a plurality of pyroelectric sensor(S1,S2) for detecting an infrared ray generated from a body of the human through an infrared filter. A processing unit determines a motion direction of the human being moved by a signal detected in the detecting unit. An output unit displays a result received from the processing unit.

A wave detector(50) is provided to convert a signal amplified by an amplifier(40) into direct current. An amp(60) outputs DC voltage by filtering a low frequency component from of the signal. An image processing computer(70) processes the DC signal so as to create an image.
