Abstract: The present invention relates to a composition comprising a calcium carbonate-comprising material and from 0.1 to 8 wt.-%, based on the total weight of the calcium carbonate-comprising material, of at least one grafted polymer comprising at least one succinic anhydride group obtained by grafting maleic anhydride onto a homo- or copolymer comprising butadiene units and optionally styrene units and/or salty reaction products thereof a polyester mixture comprising said composition, a polyester product prepared from the polyester mixture, a process for preparing the polyester product as well as the use of the at least one grafted polymer to decrease the melt flow rate of such a polyester product and an article formed from the polyester product.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a composition formed from a calcium or magnesiumcarbonate-comprising material and a surface-treatment composition comprising at least one cross-linkable compound, a dry process for the preparation of such a composition, a curable elastomer mixture comprising an elastomer resin and the composition, a cured elastomer product formed from the curable elastomer mixture, a process for preparing the cured elastomer product, the use of at least one cross-linkable compound comprising at least two functional groups, wherein at least one functional group is suitable for cross-linking an elastomer resin and wherein at least one functional group is suitable for reacting with the calcium or magnesium carbonate-comprising material in the compounding of an elastomer formed from an elastomer resin and at least one calcium or magnesiumcarbonate-comprising material as filler as well as an article formed from the cured elastomer product.

Abstract: The introduction of graphene as an additive in rubber compounds is disclosed. The product shows increased barrier protection for tire innerliners, with no tradeoffs in other characteristics. A rubber compound is disclosed herein including butyl rubber and graphene plate, wherein the graphene plate has a thickness of less than about 3.2 nm, a particle size of between about 50 nm and about 10 µm, and contains greater than about 95% carbon.

Abstract: Additive manufacturing methods use a surrogate slurry to iteratively develop an additive manufacturing protocol and then substitutes a final slurry composition to then additively manufacture a final component using the developed additive manufacturing protocol. In the nuclear reactor component context, the final slurry composition is a nuclear fuel slurry having a composition: 30-45 vol.% monomer resin, 30-70 vol.% plurality of particles of uranium-containing material, >0-7 vol.% dispersant, photoactivated dye, photoabsorber, photoinitiator, and 0-18 vol.% (as a balance) diluent. The surrogate slurry has a similar composition, but a plurality of surrogate particles selected to represent a uranium-containing material are substituted for the particles of uranium-containing material. The method provides a means for in-situ monitoring of characteristics of the final component during manufacture as well as in-situ volumetric inspection. Compositions of surrogate slurries and nuclear fuel slurries are also disclosed.
