Abstract: The present disclosure provides a composition. The composition includes (A) an ethylene-based polymer; (B) from 5 wt% to 65 wt% metal hydroxide particles; and (C) from 0.5 wt% to 10 wt% graphene nanoflakes having (i) from 1 to 20 layers and (ii) a surface area equal to, or greater than, 50 m2/g, based on the total weight of the composition. The composition has a thermal conductivity equal to, or greater than, 0.4 W·m-1·K-1 and an AC breakdown strength equal to, or greater than, 36 kV/mm.

Abstract: Disclosed is a thermoplastic composition comprising from about 40 wt. % to about 95 wt. % of a thermoplastic resin, wherein the thermoplastic resin comprises a semicrystalline polymer; and from about 0.1 wt. % to about 5 wt. % of carbon nanotubes, wherein the carbon nanotubes have an aspect ratio less than about 200, wherein the composition exhibits a percent improvement in creep of at least 40% when measured in accordance with ASTM E139, and wherein the combined weight percent value of all components does not exceed 100 wt. %, and all weight percent values are based on the total weight of the composition.

The product shows increased barrier protection for tire innerliners, with no tradeoffs in other characteristics. A rubber compound is disclosed herein including butyl rubber and graphene plate, wherein the graphene plate has a thickness of less than about 3.2 nm, a particle size of between about 50 nm and about 10 µm, and contains greater than about 95% carbon.

Abstract: Described herein are polymeric composites that can include a kaolin filler dispersed within a thermoplastic polymer matrix. The kaolin filler can exhibit an aspect ratio of from 20 to 50, as measured by laser scattering, a mean particle size of from 0.75 microns to 2 microns e.s.d., as measured by Sedigraph, or a combination thereof. In some embodiments, the kaolin filler exhibits a ratio of aspect ratio to mean particle size ranges from 4 to 5, as measured by laser scattering. In some embodiments, less than 30% by weight of the kaolin filler exhibits a particle size of less than 0.5 microns e.s.d., as measured by Sedigraph. The composites can exhibit improved mechanical properties such as flexural strength, tensile strength, and heat deflection temperature. The composites can be used to form articles, for example, by thermoforming.
