Abstract: Acoustically mediated spintronic THz emitters in which sound waves, rather than direct laser pulses, give rise to a spin current in a magnetic material via magnetoelastic coupling are provided. The THz emitters include a metal layer that acts as a light-to-acoustic transducer. Also provided are THz time-domain spectrometers (THz-TDSs) that incorporate the THz emitters.

Abstract: A projection is determined in a semiconductor image, which can be an X projection and/or a Y projection. At least one threshold is applied to the projection thereby forming at least one segment within the region. A fine segment can be determined in the region using a distance value from the projection. Defect detection can be performed in one of the fine segments.

Abstract: A system and method is provided for detecting an analyte within a sample. The method includes providing a first electromagnetic radiation to the sample in a manner that resonantly excites mechanical vibrations in the analyte. The method also includes providing a second electromagnetic radiation to the sample so as to interact with vibrating analyte, wherein a third electromagnetic radiation is produced based on the interaction. The method further includes receiving the a third electromagnetic radiation and determining the presence of the analyte based on the received a third electromagnetic radiation.

Abstract: The invention provides a method for homogenized coherent excitation of a sample for determining molecular structure. The method includes selecting a monochromatic coherent light, homogenizing the monochromatic coherent light; irradiating the sample with the homogenized monochromatic light; collecting the Raman scattered light to obtain a profile and analyzing the profile to obtain chemical specific signature of the sample. The invention also provides a method for obtaining two dimensional imaging of a sample using irradiation of large sample area by homogenized monochromatic light without compromise in spatial resolution. A system for homogenized coherent excitation of a sample for determining molecular structure is also provided.

Abstract: A method, a system, and a non-transitory computer readable medium for accurate Raman spectroscopy. The method may include executing at least one iteration of the steps of: (i) performing, by an optical measurement system, a calibration process that comprises (a) finding a misalignment between a region of interest defined by a spatial filter, and an impinging beam of radiation that is emitted from an illuminated area of a sample, the impinging beam impinges on the spatial filter; and (b) determining a compensating path of propagation of the impinging beam that compensates the misalignment; and (ii) performing a measurement process, while the optical measurement system is configured to provide the compensating path of propagation of the impinging beam, to provide one or more Raman spectra.
