Abstract:
A plurality of magnetic blocks (10a, 10b, 10c) is integrally joined side-by-side with a nonmagnetic material therebetween to provide an effectively monolithic block (10) defining parallel transducing gap planes, each pertaining to one multichannel transducer stack. A plurality of first parallel slots (21, 22, 23) in the monolithic block intersects the gap planes to define a plurality of partitions, each partition forming pairs of magnetic pole pieces (46, 47) defining respective transducing gaps pertaining to respective stacks. The transducing gaps of each partition define interlaced transducing channels of the multichannel assembly. Second parallel slots (40-42) provided along the gap planes have apexes defining transducing gap depths. The resulting transducing channels have uniform gap azimuth and gap depth while uniform internal stack alignment between all the respective stacks is obtained.
Abstract:
A transducer and method are described where track width reducing notches are filled with a nonmagnetic material which is heated to or slightly over its softening temperature but below its melting temperature. Concentrated high pressure at discrete locations is applied to the softened nonmagnetic material too enhance flow thereof into the notches.
Abstract:
A magnetic transducer assembly having separate core portions (12, 13) with keyways (17,18) provided therein. The core portions are assembled to form a substantially closed magnetic circuit defining a transducing gap (35). The keyways form recesses which are contiguous with a transducer inner space provided by the assembled cores. The inner space and recesses are filled with a nonmagnetic bonding material. The resulting bond improves the mechanical coupling between the core portions.
Abstract:
A thin film magnetic recording playback head is disclosed wherein mechanically coupled films of a magnetostrictive material and of a piezoresistive material are utilized with a solid state amplifier electrically coupled to sense resistance changes in the piezoresistive film. In operation, localized magnetic patterns on a recording medium induce strain in the magnetostrictive film, which in turn induces in the piezoresistive film corresponding changes in electrical resistance.
Abstract:
n assembly for use in an analog audio record/ playback or playback system to achieve and maintain the same phase relationship between the recorded signals upon playback, as was present when the signals were originally recorded comprising generally, playback transducer means including a playback head, phase comparison to determine the phase relationship of the signal played back by the playback transducer means and to output a signal which is proportional to the magnitude and direction of any phase difference present, and electrically responsive driver means to adjust the playback transducer means to dynamically compensate for the phase error by rotating the playback head.
