    Abstract: Method for recording information on magnetic tape, and a head for recording information on, and reproducing information from magnetic tape. The essence of the invention is that there are two airgaps (3, 4) in the direction of movement of the magnetic tape, provide with separate magnetic circuits (1, 2), and there is a magnetic coupling between the two airgaps (3, 4) of different width. During recording, a magnetic bias field is induced in the first airgap, whereas in the second one a magnetic field, varying at the frequency of the information to be recorded, is induced. By way of using the proposed method and head the quality of recordings, particularly of the tape-recorded recordings may be significantly improved, retaining the quality of playback, and the manufacturing process of the head is simpler than that of the known heads. Implementing the method and the head, the electronic circuits for recording and playback may be simplified.

En particulier, en utilisant un support en bande, on place un materiau magnetique souple (12b) avec une magnetisation de saturation plus elevee, par evaporation a vide, sur la paroi laterale du noyau en forme de pilier (12) sur son cote de sortie du support de maniere a reduire la distribution du champ magnetique d'enregistrement vertical avec, comme resultat, un meilleur rendement d'enregistrement.

    Abstract: A magnetic recording and reproducing thin film head has a lower magnetic layer (11) on a flat nonmagnetic substrate 10. This magnetic layer (11) is used as the main magnetic pole of the head. A first insulator layer (12) is formed on the main magnetic pole and a coil (13) and a second insulator layer (14) are dis-posed on the first insulator layer (12). An upper magnetic layer (15) is formed on the second insulator layer (14) with a part contacting the first insulator layer (12) and a part contacting the lower magnetic layer (11). The upper magnetic layer (15) forms the auxiliary magnetic pole. The resulting head has excellent magnetic characteristics and is easy to fabricate.

    Abstract: There is disclosed an integrated magnetic transducer for recording and reproducing high frequency electrical signals on a magnetic recording medium and a method of manufacturing the transducer. A silicon substrate has a preferably V-shaped groove with two sides and two ends extending through the silicon substrate. Over the sides of the V-shaped groove a layer of magnetically inductive material is disposed which forms the pole pieces of the transducer. An electrically conductive layer covers this layer of magnetically inductive material and fills the space within the V-shaped groove. Another layer of magnetically inductive material is disposed over the electrically conductive layer. This second magnetically inductive layer completes the magnetic circuit. Means for contacting the electrically conductive layer at opposite ends of the V-shaped groove supply the electrically conductive layer with electrical current. The converging layers of said magnetically inductive material forming the pole pieces of the magnetic transducer are spaced apart at the apex of the V-shaped groove to form a transducer gap.
