Abstract: This invention provides a conductive tape for an electrifiable fence comprising a tape of woven or knitted construction having at least two conducting wires arranged longitudinally and integrally in the woven or knitted structure characterised by a bridging conductor carried in or on the knitted or woven structure and which is directed transversely across the two longitudinal conductors at intervals so that if a break occurs in one of the conductors the current path is capable of continuing via the bridging conductor.

Abstract: Electric fence tape and fence wire are used by graziers for strip grazing. In order to reduce resistance several conductor strands are used in both tape and wire but these are prone to breakage without warning. Stainless steel is favoured but is only a modest electrical conductor. Mixtures of stainless steel conductors 10 which resist tensile stress and copper conductors 8 which improve electrical conductivity are disclosed. Likewise mixtures of stainless steel and aluminium wires are disclosed. Ratios of copper to stainless of 25 to 75% are favoured with an example of three copper and six stainless wires. The mix of wires is incorporated into a woven or knitted tape; a braided ribbon or a unidirectionally twisted cord. A feature of both tape and wire is the use of white textile strands rather than the formerly used colours orange and yellow. The advantage is greater visibility coupled with much increased conduction for larger sized fields and strips.

Abstract: A light weight, strong and flexible, braided electrical fence rope, for fences to contain livestock and keep unwanted animals out, combines in its outer braided jacket electrically conductive elements with high strength non-conductive elements in a double helix configuration. The outer braided jacket will preferably surround an inner core of non-conductive high strength elements. The high strength non-conductive elements and the physical properties of the braided rope construction provide inherent strength and flexibility properties to the fence rope. The conductive elements in the outer braided jacket are selected to provide an effective electric shock when contacted by an animal. This electric fence rope combines barrier strength and psychological deterrence to both domestic and wild animals.
