    Abstract: A microfluidic pumping system for providing continuous or pulsed pumping action of a sample fluid along a microfluidic channel of a microfluidic device is described. The pumping system comprises at least one actuator comprising an actuator channel and at least one polarizer for generating pumping fluid motion, and at least one microfluidic rectification system for facilitating the flow of a sample fluid in a predetermined direction, the at least one microfluidic rectification system being laid out in or along the microfluidic channel, and the at least one actuator being adapted for creating a pressure in the microfluidic channel, the system thus being adapted for providing continuous or pulsed fluid movement of the sample fluid along the microfluidic channel when actuation of the pumping fluid in the actuator channel takes place and further providing sample fluid immobilization when no actuation takes place.

    Abstract: According to an aspect of the present inventive concept there is provided a device for polarization dependent imaging, comprising:



    a detector comprising light sensitive elements;
    a plurality of light propagating units, each comprising a polarization splitter having a receiving end for receiving incident light, and comprising a first and a second waveguide.




    The first and second waveguides comprise a first and second portion of the receiving end. The first and second waveguides comprise a first and second distributing end, separate from each other. The polarization splitter is configured to propagate received light to the distributing ends. Each of the portions has an elongated shape such that propagation of light in the waveguides is dependent on the light's linear polarization. The elongated shapes are angled with respect to each other, such that the waveguides are configured to propagate different linear polarization directions.
    Each light propagating unit is arranged such that light at the first and second distributing ends is output towards a first and second light sensitive element, respectively.

    Abstract: An electrically-operable laser device for emitting light at least at a wavelength includes a substrate; at least a first in-plane resonator; a first electrode; a lasing gain medium; and a second electrode. Each resonator includes at least two solid materials having an electrical conductivity below 3 S/m, wherein two or more of the solid materials differ in their refractive indices. The top surface of the first in-plane resonator is planar and has a root mean square roughness below 5 nm. The first resonator is either a) situated above the substrate, or b) comprises a material of the substrate as a first of the at least two solid materials. Any further in-plane resonators, if present, are situated above the substrate.

    Abstract: A conformable matrix display device is provided with row conductors on the conformable carrier, each for a respective row of the matrix of pixel circuits. Each row conductor has serpentine trajectories in spaces between the pixel circuits in the respective row. Power supply voltage and selection pulse signals are transmitted over the same row conductors. Each row conductor is connected to supply voltage and selection inputs of the pixel circuits in the respective row. Each pixel circuit has a pulse transmission circuit coupled etween the selection input and the control input of a de-multiplexing circuit for de-multiplexing data signals on column conductors. In this way the power supply voltage and the selection signal can be supplied making shared use of space between the pixel circuits. Thus the number of conductors in the matrix display device is reduced, which enables a greater distance between the conductors and/or bends in the conductors, which makes the circuit more stretchable and/or bendable.
