Abstract: The present invention provides vaccine or immunogenic compositions comprising novel antigens derived from the equine strain of influenza H3N8. These proteins and specific immunogenic domains are effective as primary universal influenza antigens. The disclosed vaccines or immunogenic compositions are highly effective in inducing HA specific antibodies reactive to different influenza viruses, mucosal and systemic immune responses, and cross-protection regardless of influenza virus subtypes. In some embodiments, the vaccine is cross-protective against two or more (e.g., 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6) subtypes of influenza with or without the use of an adjuvant.

Abstract: Methods for transmammary administration of an analgesic to offspring swine are disclosed, which are useful for mitigating, inhibiting, and/or reducing pain in offspring swine prior to undergoing processing procedures that would cause or result in pain. The methods generally comprise administering, via injection, a cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitor class analgesic directly to a lactating female swine. The analgesic is passed indirectly to the offspring swine through the milk of the treated lactating female swine and has beneficial effects, including increases in weight gain, performance, and decreases in pain. A single dosage form injected into the lactating female is suitable for achieving indirect therapeutically effective levels of the cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitor class analgesic in the milk for the offspring.

Abstract: Improved manufacturing processes and resulting anisotropic permanent magnets, such as for example alnico permanent magnets, having highly controlled and aligned microstructure in the solid state are provided. A certain process embodiment involves applying a particular orientation and strength of magnetic field to loose, binder-coated magnet alloy powder particles in a compact-forming device as they are being formed into a compact in order to preferentially align the magnet alloy powder particles in the compact. The preferential alignment of the magnet alloy powder particle is locked in place in the compact by the binder after compact forming is complete. After removal from the device, the compact can be subjected to a subsequent sintering or other heat treating operation.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process of producing a metal-containing catalyst. The process involves mixing a support material with one or more metals in a solution to produce a catalyst comprising a metal-loaded support. The catalyst comprising a metal-loaded support is treated with an atmosphere comprising 0.01 to 100% carbon-containing agents and 0-100% hydrogen at a temperature of 50 to 500° C. to produce a treated metal-containing catalyst on a support. Also disclosed is the resulting treated metal-containing catalyst and its use in a process for converting propane to propylene.
