Abstract: A method for forming tubular solid oxide cells is described. The methods include co-extrusion of an electrode precursor and a sacrificial material to form a multi-layered precursor followed by phase inversion and sintering to remove the sacrificial layer and form an electrode substrate for use in a tubular solid oxide cell. Upon phase inversion and sintering of the precursor, a micro-channel array can be generated in the electrode that is generally perpendicular to the tube surface. The open pored micro-scale geometry of the porous electrode substrate can significantly reduce resistance for fuel/gas transport and increase effective surface area for electrochemical reactions.

The copolymers can include petroleum-derived monomers such as styrene, ethylene, and propylene.

Abstract: Methods for deriving a low-C hydrocarbon fuel from a platform chemical mixture are provided by introducing the platform chemical mixture to a catalytic material to produce a product stream comprising the low-C hydrocarbon fuel, and separating the low-C hydrocarbon fuel in the product stream from any remaining platform chemicals. Methods for producing aromatic hydrocarbons benzene, toluene, and xylenes from a platform chemical mixture are also provided by introducing a catalytic material to the platform chemical mixture to produce a immiscible liquid product stream comprising BTX, and separating the BTX in the liquid product stream from unreacted platform chemicals via a decanting process.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to efficient heat exchanger components, such as pipe apparatuses including the same. Methods of fabricating heat exchange components are also disclosed. A condensing apparatus can include a condenser surface having a substrate and one or more layers of graphene. The substrate can be formed of nickel and a nickel-graphene surface composite layer can be formed. The substrate-graphene composite can be highly durable, hydrophobic, and resistant to fouling. Dropwise condensation can be induced.

Abstract: Methods for synthesizing a polymer functionalized nanoparticle are provided. The method can include attaching a polymeric chain to a nanoparticle, wherein the polymeric chain comprises a plurality monomers, wherein the plurality of monomers comprise alkyl (meth)acrylate monomers. Polymer functionalized nanoparticles are also provided that comprise a nanoparticle defining a surface, and a polymeric chain covalently bonded to the surface of the nanoparticle, wherein the polymeric chain comprises a poly alkyl (meth)acrylate. Nanocomposites are also provided that include a plurality of these polymer functionalized nanoparticles dispersed within a polymeric matrix (e.g., a polyolefin matrix).

Abstract: Methods and compositions are described for use in encouraging angiogenesis and skin healing as may be utilized in wound treatment as well as in encouragement of angiogenesis in disease. Compositions include an effective amount of a natural pimarane diterpenoid extract of Hymenocrater elegans, or a derivative, analogue, or homolog thereof. Compounds based upon this natural extract have been found to be highly effective in vascular formation and skin closure while exhibiting low toxicity.
