Abstract: Systems and methods may provide for capturing 360 degree video, and multi-resolution encoding, processing and displaying of the video based on a field of view (FOV) and region of interest (ROI) for a viewer. The ROI may be determined based on eye tracking information (ETI) and the video may be encoded for viewports within the FOV at a high resolution and for other viewports outside the FOV at a lower resolution. ROI in the video may be encoded at a high resolution and areas outside of the ROI may be encoded at a lower resolution. The ETI enables the selective display of one or more warnings based on the gaze of a user to improve the efficiency of the warning. 3D glasses having variable lens may be used to adjust the focal distance of a virtual display to match a virtual distance of an object based on stereo distance cues.

However, when driving a car there are limited options for overcoming glares on the dashboard, especially when you are driving for a long distance in the same direction. Embodiments are directed to eliminating such glare. Other embodiments are related to mixed reality (MR) and filling in occluded areas.

Abstract: Systems and methods may provide for tuning content for display based on a user viewing distance as detected by stereoscopic depth cameras. The depth cameras improve the accuracy of detection and segmentation for users, particularly for off axis viewing. The detected viewing distance thereby allows the resolution, size, type and format of the content to be more precisely adjusted to improve the viewing experience and/or to provide an appropriate user interface. Detecting the viewer distance allows the resolution of the content to be reduced when appropriate, thereby reducing the encoding and processing requirements to provide significant improvements in power and bandwidth efficiency.

Abstract: Various embodiments are generally directed to techniques for incorporating full-resolution frames in a coding order and corresponding thumbnail images of a motion video into compressed video data. A device to compress video frames includes a processor component; and a compression component for execution by the processor component to intersperse at least one compressed thumbnail frame (T-frame) among multiple compressed full-resolution frames of a motion video arranged in a coding order in a compressed video data, the T-frame comprising multiple thumbnail images of the motion video in compressed form.
