Abstract:
Systems and methods for enhancing circulation are described. In one particular embodiment, the invention provides a method for enhancing circulation. The method comprises attaching at least one compression device to at least a portion of a person's lower extremity. The person's chest is repetitively compressed so that the chest experiences a compression phase and a recoil phase or decompression. Also, the person's lower extremity is compressed using the compression device during at least some of the recoil phases.
Abstract:
A stand for supporting a vibrator/massaging device provides a swiveling and pivoting relationship through a ball joint connection between the massaging device and the base stand. The base stand comprises a suction cup bottom which enables attachment to a variety of flat surfaces. The stand has a receptacle for receiving a shaft end of the massaging device in a snug fit, and has a slot in its side wall for receiving an electrical cord for the massaging device.
Abstract:
The present invention provides improved oculomotor testing devices and pain tolerance testing devices. Certain oculomotor testing devices test parameters including response time, reaction time, and movement time, as well as precision. The devices are adapted for ambulatory as well as semi-ambulatory and non-ambulatory individuals. Methods of using the devices are provided wherein a visual stimulus is provided and the individual is instructed to perform a movement specific to that visual stimulus. Preferably, the device records the movement done in response to the visual stimulus and, with the aid of a computing device, factors out errors and measures the desired parameter. One embodiment of the present invention permits a user to observe a real-time visual feedback of the force exerted on a load cell. The individual can increase or decrease the amount of force exerted in response to the display of force on a visual feedback monitor. Such a device can measure the pain tolerance of an individual by correlating the length of time the individual can maintain a certain exerted force on the load cell with their tolerance for pain.
Abstract:
An air bubble massage bathtub mat system featuring a remote control and a flexible mat is disclosed. The remote control unit communicates with a blower/air heater unit contained in a housing. The housing is connected to the mat by a tube that directs air into the mat. The mat is formed of a flexible polymeric sheet material that may be rolled up for storage. The mat includes a plurality of flexible blocks that are retained between two layers of polymer sheet material that also define the air passages in the mat. Air flows through the mat and exits the mat in small holes that provide small air bubbles to water contained in a bathtub. Suction cups attached to elongated strips which are held to the mat by elongated pockets hold the mat stationary in the bathtub.
Abstract:
There is provided a soft bubbling bath mat having a mat body of molded flexible material that houses a soft flexible foam pad adapted to fit between an outer edge of the mat body an interior air passageway. The air passageway is adapted at one end to form an inlet port. The inlet port is adapted to receive air to be fed from a compressed air source to the passageway and forced through the passageway and out through a plurality of small apertures in a top surface of the passageway creating a therapeutic bubbling massage effect.

Abstract:
A bath tub spa is provided that has a motor housing with a motor for driving a pump. The pump has an input opening and an output opening sealed about the pump such fluid is drawn through said input opening and expelled through the output opening. The spa also has a nozzle removably sealed to said output opening, and a connector for connecting the motor housing to the bath tub such that the input opening is maintained at least partially below a level of fluid and at least a portion of the nozzle is maintained below the level of the fluid. The motor housing is rotatable about a first axis, the output opening is rotatable about a second axis, and the nozzle is rotatable about a third axis.
Abstract:
A water massage mat is disclosed which comprises a substantially rectangular cover formed of two leaves of suitable flexible material welded together along weld lines so as to form a structure similar to a small air mattress. The weld lines include a perimetrical weld line extending along the perimeter of the cover and a second internal weld line configured so as to define a first hermetically sealed channel and a second channel closed at one of its ends and connected at its other end to a feeder pipe which is adapted to be connected to a source of compressed air. These internal weld lines, as viewed from above are serpentine shaped. Small holes are formed in the upper surface of the second channel and are capable of allowing the compressed air from the feeder pipe to flow out of the second channel so as to generate a water massage effect. A plurality of suction cups fasten the cover to the bottom of a tub or basin. The first and second channels are formed such that, when inflated, the first channel is larger in diameter than the second channel, and the upper surface of the second channel is vertically lower than the upper surface of the first channel. With this arrangement, the user's body can be supported by the first channel with a gap formed above the small holes of the second channel to allow air to flow therethrough.
Abstract:
A water massage aerator bath apparatus for injecting air under pressure into water. The apparatus includes an elongated tubing passage that is shaped for positioning in a bath container and includes holes spaced longitudinally along the tubing passage. A nozzle is connected to the tubing passage to conduct air under pressure to the tubing passage and through the spaced holes. The tubing passage comprises a plurality of tube sections and means to easily connect and disassemble the separate tube sections. The tube sections have a structural configuration to provide orientation and alignment of the spaced holes to inject air under pressure to the interior of the bath container each time the apparatus is assembled. Securing means such as suction cups are connected to the tubing passage for attaching the apparatus to the inner surface of the bath container.
