Abstract:
A device for well-being and body care includes a unit adapted to drip a fluid onto the body of a person to be treated and a unit collecting the fluid dripping from the body of the person, wherein such unit adapted to drip the fluid onto the body of the person to be treated, includes a tank connected, through a first duct, to a pump, the pump being then connected, through a second duct, to a percolator adapted to delicately flow the fluid onto the body of the person to be treated.
Abstract:
Described herein is an apparatus and method for ischemic muscle training or recovery by coordinated blood flow restriction and electrical muscle stimulation. The apparatus comprises a blood flow occluding element for restricting blood flow to a target muscle or muscle group in a user, and measuring resting systolic blood pressure (SBP); and an electrical muscle stimulator comprising at least one electrode and a control unit which, upon activation, is effective to send low amplitude electric pulses through the target muscle or muscle group forcing the targeted muscle to contract while the blood flow is restricted.
Abstract:
An exemplary system for generating a counter-stimulation in a patient suffering from RLS includes a device configured and arranged to generate a counter-stimulation in a patient suffering from RLS, the counter-stimulation of an amplitude, intensity, and time duration lower than that which would wake the patient and higher than that sufficient to relieve RLS, or sufficient to relieve RLS symptoms and allow the patient to return to sleep, a controller configured and arranged to drive the counter-stimulation generation device, the controller being in communication with the counter-stimulation device, and a base configured and arranged to hold the counter-stimulation generation device adjacent to a patient, the counter-stimulation device attached to the base. An exemplary method of treating RLS includes selecting a patient experiencing RLS, and stimulating a portion of the patient at an amplitude, intensity, and duration sufficient to act as a counter-stimulation to RLS.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides a device for transmitting focused acoustic energy from a tissue surface of a face of a user to at least one sinus. The device includes a power supply; a signal source configured to provide a waveform of at least 20 kHz that is configured to increase a flow of fluid from the at least one sinus; and a transducer connected to the power supply and the signal source, the transducer configured to contact a medium applied to the tissue surface of the face and transmit the waveform through the medium and the tissue surface of the face to the at least one sinus.
Abstract:
The present invention generally relates to a device for applying a pulsating pressure to a local region of the body and applications thereof. The device may be used to increase the blood flow in a local region of the body, and in preferred embodiments provides a device for regulating the core body temperature of a patient.
Abstract:
An apparatus is disclosed including but not limited to a group of force resistive objects for concurrently applying pressure to different positions on at least one of a plurality of human tissues; and a connective member for fixedly interconnecting the plurality of force resistive objects. A method for using the apparatus is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A hot stone therapy and acupressure apparatus comprising a rod having an outer diameter, a first end, a second end and a middle section, at least one stone removably mounted on the rod, wherein each stone is shaped as a hollow cylinder defining an interior surface and an exterior surface, with the interior surface having a diameter that is slightly larger than the outer diameter of the rod wherein each stone is independently axially movable and positionable along the middle section of the rod, the first end and said second end portions of the rod extending beyond the at least one stone thereby forming a pair of handles for facilitating gripping the rod and positioning the apparatus across a person's body, and at least one acupressure pin removably mounted to the rod for positioning, removing and replacing the at least one stone and for applying acupressure to said person's body.

Abstract:
A patient support system comprises an articulated frame having a plurality of segments, a frame controller coupled to the frame to move at least one of the segments, a mattress having at least one chamber, a mattress controller coupled to the mattress to control an amount of fluid in the at least one chamber, and a user interface controller configured to send control signals to the frame controller and to the mattress controller.
Abstract:
A personal communication and data entry device comprises a portable housing, an internal controller coupled to the housing, a paging device coupled to the controller, and at least one of a voice recording device, a cellular telephone transceiver, a radio transceiver for two-way communication, and an infrared transmitter coupled to the controller.
