Abstract:
The present invention relates generally to an environmental control unit for use in air handling systems that provides highly effective filtration of noxious gases (such as ammonia). Such a filtration system utilizes novel metal-doped silica-based gels to trap and remove such undesirable gases from an enclosed environment. Such gels exhibit specific porosity requirements and density measurements. Furthermore, in order for proper metal doping to take effect, such gels must be treated while in a wet state. The combination of these particular properties and metal dopant permits highly effective noxious gas filtration such that uptake and breakthrough results are attained, particularly in comparison with prior silica gel filtration products. Also included is the presence of an oxidizing agent to aid in capturing nitrous oxide and preventing conversion of such a product to NO. Methods of using and specific filter apparatuses are also encompassed within this invention.
Abstract:
After AlH3 is synthesized, ball milling is performed under a condition in which a force of 2 G to 20 G (G represents the acceleration of gravity) is applied, to thereby provide AlH3 having an X-ray diffraction pattern in the form of a halo pattern. That is, for example, nanostructured AlH3 is provided, in which a grain boundary phase intervenes in a matrix phase, a side length t2 of the matrix phase is not more than 20 nm, and a width w2 of the grain boundary phase is not more than 10 nm. Alternatively, amorphous AlH3 may be provided. Further, hydrogen is released from AlH3 on which ball milling has been completed, and then the hydrogen is absorbed to induce a change into AlHx (provided that 0
Abstract:
A composition comprising a metal oxide and a promoter, wherein at least a portion of the promoter is present as a reduced valence promoter, and methods of preparing such composition are disclosed. The thus-obtained composition is employed in a desulfurization zone to remove sulfur from a hydrocarbon stream.
Abstract:
In order to remove fluorine from a zinc containing solution before zinc electro-refining in lower cost, fluorine is removed by adsorption from a zinc containing solution (leached solution) utilizing the character of the predetermined iron compound or zinc compound which can adsorb fluorine in an acid solution and desorb fluorine in an alkaline solution. The fluorine adsorbent/desorbent having adsorbed fluorine is treated in an alkaline solution, to desorb the fluorine. This makes it possible to regenerate the fluorine adsorbent/desorbent. Further, an electrolytic solution for zinc electro-refining can be prepared in lower cost, thus total zinc refining costs can be reduced.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to new gas sorbents on the basis of intermetallic compounds and a method for producing the same. The method comprises the following steps: mixing and melting of initial metals and homogenization of the melt under negative pressure of inert gas, manufacturing of cast shot by quenching of melted droplets under positive pressure, obtaining of skeleton-type granules by evaporation of the excess of the component A from cast shot under vacuum.

Abstract:
A vacuum swing adsorption process is provided for the separation of propylene from a feedstream comprising propylene and propane using an adsorbent comprising AlPO-14 to produce a high purity propylene product stream at high recovery. The vacuum swing adsorption process of the present invention can be employed in a variety of petroleum refining and petrochemical processes to purify and separate propylene from mixtures of propylene and propane alone or in combination with fractionation.
