Abstract:
A cosmetic coating composition comprising acrylic acid type copolymers, pyrrolidone type copolymers, and an alcohol solvent, a remover for dental coating composition comprising an alcohol solvent and a gelling agent and containing said alcohol solvent in an amount of not less than 20 mass % based on the total mass of the remover, and a intraoral lip supporter for fixing lips to gums. Further, a method for applying a coating composition characterized by applying a coating composition containing a white powdered pigment as a primer coating, and then overcoating a coating composition containing a chromatic color type pigment or microfine leaves, and a method for applying a coating composition with using said supporter.
Abstract:
This invention relates to the production of topical dosage forms containing human plasma fibronectin in combination with growth factors having human mitogenic or angiogenic activity, such as platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF-nullnull), to promote wound healing in humans.
Abstract:
A cellulose-based fire retardant composition is made by (1) adding cellulose to water, thereby forming a solution; (2) adding liquid ammonia to the solution; and (3) subsequently adding solid diammonium phosphate to the solution, thereby forming a viscous cellulose-based fire retardant liquid.
Abstract:
Disclosed are terminally sterilized osteogenic devices for implantation into a mammal. The devices contain a combination of a biologically active osteogenic protein and an insoluble carrier which after being combined are sterilized by exposure to ionizing radiation, for example, by exposure to gamma rays or an electron beam. The terminally sterilized devices of the invention are characterized in that they induce bone formation following implantation into a mammal. Also disclosed is a method for inducing bone formation in a mammal by implanting a terminally sterilized device of the invention into a preselected locus in a mammal. Also disclosed is a method for preparing the terminally sterilized device of the invention.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to non-animal polymer compositions suitable for film forming, particularly hard and soft capsules, comprising water soluble cellulose ethers, hydrocolloides and sequestering agents.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method of reducing, controlling, inhibiting, preventing, protecting against, or minimizing calculus, tartar, plaque, or stain, in the oral cavity, by applying a denture adhesive composition to the oral cavity, the denture adhesive composition comprising: (a) a safe and effective adhesive amount of a denture adhesive component; and (b) a safe and effective amount of a non-aqueous denture adhesive carrier.
Abstract:
An improved method and composition for preventing adhesions during surgery. Tissue surfaces and surgical articles involved in the surgery are coated with a solution of a hydrophilic, polymeric material prior to manipulation of the tissue during surgery. The composition comprises a solution of a polymeric material having a molecular weight of about 500,000 or above having a concentration of from about 0.01 to about 15%, by weight.
Abstract:
A particulate absorbent, for the absorption of liquids, comprising particles selected from the group consisting of particles of glass-like polysaccharides and of particles of glass-like polysaccharides occluding, In their internal structure, at least one surfactant, said particles: having a size of up to 620 &mgr;m; being at least 70% of a glass-like type structure; and being: 30 to 45% of a size comprised between 620 and 420 &mgr;m; 35 to 55% of a size comprised between 420 and 210 &mgr;m; and 5 to 25% of a size up to 210 &mgr;m. These particulate absorbent is non-hygroscopic, hypoallergenic and biodegradable and useful particularly in biodegradable diapers.
Abstract:
A system for whitening, remineralizing, strengthening, reducing hypersensitivity, treating infections with antibiotics or antimicrobials, or otherwise treating a person's teeth including a gel with a therapeutic agent contained therein is disclosed. The gel is supported and carried in a channel formed in the central area of a strip of core material that also functions as a gum protective liner. A release liner may be applied to the top of the combined gel and core and is removed to expose the gel when the system is to be used. Applied to the lower side of the core is a releasable backing layer that supports the gel and core and functions as an applicator for the system.
Abstract:
The invention provides wound dressings and methods of their use, especially for the treatment of chronic, non-healing wounds. The wound dressings are composed of a support matrix, such as cotton cellulose, and an active agent associated with the support matrix. The active agent may be a protease inhibitor or a protease sequestrant, in particular an inhibitor or sequestrant of a neutrophil-derived cationic protease such as elastase.
