This invention relates to dendritically modified polyurethane, to a process for preparing the dendritically modified polyurethane and to uses thereof.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a polyester resin for use in a coating composition. The polyester resin is the reaction product of a first compound comprising a plurality of hydroxyl groups, a lactone compound, a carboxylic acid anhydride, an epoxy compound having at least one epoxy group, and a carbamate compound. The present invention is also directed to a coating composition including the polyester resin and to a method of preparing the resin.
Abstract:
The invention is directed to a two-pack high solids low VOC ambient curable coating composition, which includes cross linking and binder components. The crosslinking component includes a polyamine, a polyketimine, or a combination thereof. The polyamine is provided on an average with at least two amine functionalities per polymer chain and the polyketimine is provided on an average with at least two ketimine functionalities per polymer chain. A reactive diluent in the binder component includes a macromolecule substantially free from acrylate functionalities and having at least two acetoacetate functionalities per the macromolecule. If desired, the coating composition includes a binder polymer. The coating composition of the invention is particularly suited in automotive refinish coatings.
Abstract:
A substrate having a dendrimer monolayer film thereon is provided. The film can comprise either dendrimers, or dendrons (dendrimer branches). In each case, the monolayer films are covalently bonded to the desired surface. The resulting structure can be employed in a variety of applications including chemical sensors.
Abstract:
A highly weathering-resistant coating material exhibits an excellent water resistance and water repellency. The coating material contains a vinyl-type polymer that contains a pendant carbosiloxane dendrimer structure. The coating material is used on construction materials, buildings and structures undercoated with an organic coating material, automobiles, railroad rolling stock, ships, aircraft, and bridges, commercial and industrial plants, and electrical and electronic instruments and devices.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to hyperbranched polyaspartate esters containing repeating structural units corresponding to the formula I and/or II ##STR1## The present invention also relates to a process for the preparation of these hyperbranched polyaspartate esters by self condensing, via a transesterification reaction, at least a portion of the hydroxy and ester groups of the hydroxy aspartates corresponding to the above formula at a temperature of 60.degree. to 240.degree. C. to form hyperbranched polyaspartate esters and eliminating alcohols having the formula R.sub.1 --OH and/or R.sub.2 --OH.
Abstract:
Dense star polyamines having terminal group densities greater than extended conventional star polyamines exhibit greater and more uniform reactivity than their corresponding extended conventional star polyamines. For example, a second generation, amine-terminated polyamine dense star polyamine prepared from tri(2-aminoethyl)amine and aziridine has 4.7.times.10.sup.-3 amine moieties per unit volume (cubic Angstrom units) in contrast to the 1.7.times.10.sup.-3 amine moieties per unit volume contained by an extended conventional star polyamine. Such dense star polyamines are useful as calibration standards, high efficiency proton scavengers and in making size selective membranes.
Abstract:
The properties of a thermoformed polymeric article are modified by incorporation of an additive in a thermoplastic/thermoplastic elastic host matrix. The additive comprises a polydispersed hyperbranched polymer (HBP) or a branched monodispersed dendritic polymer (DP). The HBP or DP is linked to a plurality of oligomer chains. The additive migrates to the surface of the article during the thermoforming process.
