Abstract: In some embodiments, in response to the user selecting a first node in the tree to be pinned, the system displays a first detail panel for the first node, wherein the first detail panel displays state information for the first node, wherein the state information is frozen at the time of pinning. Moreover, in response to the user selecting a second node in the tree to be pinned, the system displays a second detail panel for the second node, wherein the second detail panel displays state information for the second node, wherein the state information is frozen at the time of pinning. Note that the first detail panel is displayed concurrently with the second detail panel to facilitate comparing state information between the first and second nodes.

Abstract: Embodiments are described for systems and methods that facilitate control of virtual endpoint failover/failback during an administrative SCSI target port disable or enable operation. In this case, SCSI target virtual endpoints may failover to a secondary SCSI target port when the primary port fails. When the primary port is corrected and enabled by the administrator the failover method pulls virtual endpoints on secondary ports back to the primary port under administrator control; and if an administrator wishes to manually disable a SCSI target port the failover operation pushes (failover) all virtual endpoints currently using the port as a primary to a secondary port.

Abstract: Described in detail herein is a method of copying data of one or more virtual machines being hosted by one or more non-virtual machines. The method includes receiving an indication that specifies how to perform a copy of data of one or more virtual machines hosted by one or more virtual machine hosts. The method may include determining whether the one or more virtual machines are managed by a virtual machine manager that manages or facilitates management of the virtual machines. If so, the virtual machine manager is dynamically queried to automatically determine the virtual machines that it manages or that it facilitates management of. If not, a virtual machine host is dynamically queried to automatically determine the virtual machines that it hosts. The data of each virtual machine is then copied according to the specifications of the received indication.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a system for managing a virtualization environment includes a set of host machines, each of which includes a hypervisor, virtual machines, and a virtual machine controller, and a virtualized file server backup system configured to identify backup data, wherein the backup data comprises data stored on the virtual disks and VFS configuration information, and the first data is identified in accordance with a backup policy, send the backup data to one or more remote sites for storage, and, in response to detection of changes in the backup data, send the changes to the remote sites in accordance with a replication policy. The backup data may be identified based on a protection domain associated with the backup policy. The data stored on the VFS may include one or more storage objects. The storage objects may include shares, groups of shares, files, or directories.

Abstract: Techniques to protect data are disclosed. A backup appliance configuration data associated with a first backup appliance associated with a first virtual machine environment is received at a host site. The backup appliance configuration data is replicated to a remote replication site. The backup appliance configuration data includes data usable at the remote replication site to provide at the remote replication site a replicated backup appliance that is associated with a second virtual machine environment at the remote replication site and is configured to access backup data stored by the first backup appliance and to use said backup data stored by the first backup appliance to recover to hosts at the replication site one or more virtual machines associated with the first virtual machine environment.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a solution for adding a profiling agent to a virtual machine (VM), which permits unit test programs to access information relating to memory and performance from runtime data areas of the VM. Operations permitted by the agent can include starting/stopping VM monitor, getting objects from the heap, retrieving an invocation count, determining a size of an instantiated object, getting a current thread time, and the like. Memory and performance information gathered during a test can be stored for later analysis under a test version identifier. A comparison engine can create reports that use the stored performance and memory data, which can help developers compare memory/performance deltas among different unit versions. In one embodiment, the VM can be a JAVA VIRTUAL MACHINE (JVM) and the unit test programs can be JUNIT programs.

Abstract: As disclosed herein a computer-implemented method for managing an HA cluster includes activating, by a cluster manager, a monitoring process that monitors a database on a first node in a high-availability database cluster. The method further includes receiving an indication that the database on the first node is not healthy, initiating a failover operation for deactivating the database on the first node and activating a standby database on a second node in the high-availability database cluster providing an activated standby database, and ensuring that any additional databases on the first node are unaffected by the failover operation. A computer program product corresponding to the above method is also disclosed.
