Abstract:
A portable image transport device and corresponding techniques for image transport are disclosed. The portable image transport device accommodates an automatic initiation of image transport when the device is in a designated location by automatically recognizing the location condition and then engaging in communication with a medical device having an image capture capability. A variety of image transport may be performed, such as sending the received image to a printer for printing a hard copy. The portable image transport device also manages restrictions on image transport. Various restrictions may apply including but not limited to the type of devices to which the transport may be made, or certain registered devices to ensure transport only within a defined set of recipient classes or particularly identified recipients.
Abstract:
An imaging apparatus includes a first part and a second part separable from each other. If the first part and the second part are in a separated state, the first part applies image processing to image data and transmits the processed image data to the second part. If the first part and the second part are in a united state, the first part and a second part perform assigned roles for applying image processing to the image data.
Abstract:
A camera system includes: a digital camera; and a key device configured as a unit separate from the digital camera. The digital camera includes a control device that sets a lock mode for encrypting image data and recording the encrypted image data into a recording medium and clears the lock mode in response to a lock release signal input via the key device.
Abstract:
An image reproduction apparatus having a basic function at low cost, and additional functions as an option. The image reproduction apparatus is configured to detect invalid pixels, remove a black streak, and detect a blank document page. The image reproduction apparatus includes a base engine/image data controller that includes a process controller, a RAM used as a work area, a ROM in which operation commands are stored, a video controller that processes image data and controls the flow of image data, and an I/O controller that monitors and controls I/Os of various devices, such as drivers or sensors, wherein those parts are connected via a CPU bus. The image reproduction apparatus can be extended into the form of a digital multifunction device by connecting a controller board to the base engine/image data controller via a parallel bus.
Abstract:
A digital picture frame device and system for displaying digital content. The digital picture frame device includes a display screen, a frame surrounding a periphery of the display screen, a compartment accessible by an opening in a side surface of the frame, a movable door for selectively covering the opening, a memory device port disposed in the compartment for receiving a memory device containing digital content, and control circuitry for controlling a display of the digital content on the display screen. A computer with a processor and a computer-readable medium having computer-executable instructions thereon can generate or receive digital content and associate at least some of the digital content with one or more playlists. A communications link transfers the playlists of the digital content to the picture frame for display on the display screen. Multiple inputs can be used for receiving and displaying different kinds of digital content.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for provision to customers of display material without intervention by an attendant. It is known to dispense material to attendees and prospective customers at meetings, exhibitions, conferences and commodity or product shows of all kinds, in an anonymous fashion from unattended literature racks and the like. The material to be dispensed usually comprises brochures, pamphlets and other printed material describing the item of interest which attracted the potential customer or attendee. It is not always possible to have a human attendant present, and even if one or more attendants are present, it may not be possible to meet the instant needs of a large crowd. The present invention seeks to provide means whereby the needs of every individual can be met, whether or not a human attendant is present, whilst allowing the attendee the choice of remaining anonymous or not. In accordance with the present invention, there is provided a point of display document dispenser comprising: coupling means for accepting coupling of a portable electronic memory device to said point of display dispenser; detection means for detecting when a portable electronic memory device is coupled with said coupling means and providing output indicative thereof; and data transfer means, operative, on the condition that said detecting means has provided said output, to transfer an electronic copy of a document in an associated memory means to the portable memory device or to receive an identification address.

Abstract:
An optical text scanning device compatible with a small handheld computer such as a personal digital assistant (PDA). The scanning device allows for a clear view of the text that is scanned simultaneous to the scanning process so that the operator can continuously align the device to the text. The scanned images of the text are converted in real-time to standard byte or word characters for subsequent display on the computer's viewing screen. The operator can quickly verify the accuracy of the conversion by comparing the displayed character with the actual character of text on the surface that is being scanned. Scanned text characters are stored in standard digital text files for ease of manipulation.
Abstract:
A duplicate apparatus is disclosed that is able to reliably switch plural document feeding units without additional cost and has high accessibility. In the duplicate apparatus, an operations unit and a document reading unit are included in an operations-reading unit as one unit, and plural operations-reading units can be connected to the duplicate apparatus. A control unit enables one of the operations-reading units to operate via an image data selection unit and an operations selection unit.
