Abstract:
A system and method for communicating an image to a removable media device includes communicating the image from an image capture device to the removable media device over a wireless connection. The communicated image is stored in memory on the removable media device, and the stored image is deciphered. The deciphered image is recorded on removable media, the recorded image capable of being accessed on removable media device. In an additional aspect of the present invention, a method for communicating and formatting an image from an image capture device includes initiating a connection between an image capture device and an image storage device and querying the image storage device for a supported format. If the supported format differs from an image format, the image is deciphered to the supported format and communicated from the image capture device to the image storage device.
Abstract:
A system and method is presented for tuning a scanned image to a specified printing device for enhanced image quality output. The method generally has the steps of first receiving a scanned image in digitized format and reading a specification of how the image was scanned including the input document format; the output document format, syntax, and parameter semantics. Loading a device profile of the target printing system as input wherein the parameters that define the enhanced print quality for a printing system are specified by the device profile of that system. Producing an output image such that when printed on the target printer, it produces enhanced quality output. In an alternative embodiment, the system and method further comprises the step of re-sampling the scanned image if the resolution of the primary system does not match that of the scanning system in order to re-screen the scanned image halftones to the ones that are suitable for the designated printing system and to adjust the color gamut of the scanned image to match that of the printing system.
Abstract:
A document scanning device reads an image on a document while scanning the image, and generates image data based on the image. The document scanning device selects and sets a scanning speed in accordance with a transfer mode used when the document scanning device transfers the image data to another apparatus. The document scanning device controls the amount of generated image data by using the set scanning speed to successively read the image, whereby optimal transfer processing in accordance with the transfer mode can be performed. By switching a transfer path in accordance with the type of the read data, i.e., binary data per pixel or multilevel data per pixel, efficient data transfer can be performed.
Abstract:
An image forming apparatus capable of updating a program of data thereof, includes: a storage section for storing the data to be processed by the program; an investigation section for checking whether or not data of old format incompatible with a current program is present in the storage section; a conversion section for converting the data of old format in the storage section, into a format conforming to the current program, when the investigation section shows that the data of old format is present; and an image forming section for forming an image using the converted data.
Abstract:
In case of forming images by distributing image data mixedly including plural different kinds of data to plural image formation apparatuses, the data is distributed in consideration of a state of the image formation apparatus and data desired by a user is quickly output. In order to operate a system smoothly, an image formation system, which has an information processing apparatus capable of selectively transmitting a series of image data composed of plural pages containing first-kind image data and second-kind image data different from the first-kind image data to a first image formation apparatus and a second image formation apparatus in the page unit, controls to transmit the first-kind image data to the first image formation apparatus and transmit the second-kind image data to the second image formation apparatus from the series of image data. Further, transmission timing of the first-kind image data to the first image formation apparatus is made differ from transmission timing of the second-kind image data to the second image formation apparatus in accordance with a function of the first image formation apparatus or a function of the second image formation apparatus.
Abstract:
The printing mode for each page of a document can be efficiently selected at a preferable timing. A printer driver identifies a spooled intermediate code as color data or monochrome data, based on selected criteria. Based on the identification results, a page that has been identified as being ambiguous is displayed on a screen. The printing mode of the ambiguous page can be changed. Then, the change of the printing mode is confirmed. After the change is confirmed, the intermediate code is printed in accordance with the confirmed printing mode.

Abstract:
A scanner unit sequentially reads original pages set in the paper feed mechanism. The read image is stored in a storage unit by adding the read image to a predetermined file. Reading unit information which represents the number of read original pages when the originals set in the paper feed mechanism are read is generated. After the end of reading of the original pages set in the paper feed mechanism, unless the reading end is instructed, every time original pages are set in the paper feed mechanism, reading by the scanner unit, storage in the storage unit, and generation of the reading unit information are executed. If the reading end is instructed, the read images in the predetermined file stored in the storage unit are split on the basis of the generated reading unit information. Each of the split read images is converted into a file having a designated file format. Each converted file is transmitted to the designated transmission destination.
Abstract:
A copying machine performs a panel operation necessary for copying at a step S601 and performs ACS determination for determining whether an original image is a color image, a monochrome image or an indefinite image at a step S603. Then, the copying machine performs copying at a step S605 according to a print mode responsive to a result of ACS determination. At this time, a printed paper for an indefinite image is discharged to a discharge position different from that for another printed paper. The copying machine displays the result of the ACS determination on an operation panel at a step S607. Therefore, an original determined as the indefinite image can be recognized at a glance so that a countermeasure can be immediately taken if reprinting is necessary. Consequently, it is possible to provide an image forming apparatus capable of immediately performing proper processing on an original image by readily detecting an improper result of printing caused by false determination as to whether the original image is a color image or a monochrome image.
Abstract:
In response to a request from a host device using an initial protocol, capability information including information indicative of a plurality of communication protocols is returned to the host device, and a communication protocol, designated by the host device based on the capability information, is set, and print data is received from the host device by the set communication protocol. In a system using an interface connected to various types of devices, e.g., an IEEE 1394 serial bus, a communication protocol, which is used when a host device transfers print data to a printer, is not limited to that unique to the manufacturer of the device.
