    Abstract: A handheld system for the objective measurement of compliance with a clinical study protocol, such as an ETDRS BCVA study protocol. The system and methods use a handheld device application and associated sensors of the device to measure ambient light, and the distances between objects in an examination lane to determine compliance. The system may also identify objects in the room and provide an interface for users to understand compliance and receive training.

    Abstract: A device includes a casing, circuitry within the casing, and a temperature sensor. The temperature sensor is connected to the circuitry and is attached to the casing in such a way that an air gap separates the temperature sensor from the casing. The temperature sensor is attached to the casing in a bridge. The bridge includes a first backing and a second backing, which includes a grommet. The temperature sensor is positioned between a portion of the first backing and a portion of the second backing, and includes a flex lead that is electrically connected through the grommet of the second backing to the circuitry inside the casing.

    Abstract: To mitigate undesirable outcomes due to crosstalk in an ambient light sensor reading resulting from light emission from an electronic display, statistics may be gathered to determine and compensate for the crosstalk. For example, the ambient light sensor may detect ambient light levels while the electronic display is temporarily paused to reduce or eliminate crosstalk between the light produced by the electronic display and the ambient light sensor. However, the ambient light sensor may retain charge from a previous light emission, creating back-emission crosstalk. The ratio of back-emission to front-emission (e.g., present light emission) may not be linear, and the degree of nonlinearity may vary with pixel value, color component, display brightness, temperature, and so on. As the ambient light sensor is affected by back-emission, compensation for the nonlinearity between the front-emission and the back-emission may be obtained to estimate the crosstalk induced on the ambient light sensor.

    Abstract: A system includes a dishwasher, an image capturing device designed to capture an image of washware arranged in the washing chamber, with the image including a plurality of sub-images, each of which having different spectral information of the washware. An illumination unit illuminates the washware in the washing chamber, and an image analysis unit receives the captured image from the image capturing device and to carry out a chemical analysis of soiling on the washware based on the plurality of sub-images of the received image and to ascertain a dirt characteristic of soiling as a result of the chemical analysis. A control device carries out a washing program for washing the washware in the washing chamber. The control device receives the dirt characteristic from the image analysis unit and adapts the washing program for washing the washware as a function of the received dirt characteristic.
