Abstract:
A method for characterizing a threaded coupling such as between two tubular members is disclosed. In one embodiment, a threaded connection between a first tubular and a second tubular is considered, where the first tubular has a internally-threaded box structure and the second tubular has outer threads defining a pin structure. A mathematical model of the connection between the two tubulars is generated, and the mathematical model is permuted to reflect application of at least one flexing force to the joint. From the permuted model, a stress/strain distribution of the box and pin structures is derived. A connection fatigue index value is calculated based on the stress/strain distribution. In one embodiment, connection fatigue indices are computed for a variety of connection combinations, such that a user can compare the relative suitability of multiple box/pin combinations to select one that is deemed desirable for a particular use.
Abstract:
A server of a network system for inserting data into a streaming data displayed by a user comprises a first store unit, a statistic unit, a selecting unit, a displaying control unit and an output unit. The first store unit is sued for storing a plurality of data contents. The statistic unit is coupled to the first store unit and used for collecting and analyzing information of the plurality of data contents and information of the user to generate a statistic result. The selecting unit is used for selecting at least one data content from the plurality of data contents according to the statistic result. The displaying control unit is used for generating a control information for controlling the timing of displaying the selected data contents over the user. The output unit is used for transmitting the control information and the selected data contents to the user.
Abstract:
A system, method, and computer-readable medium are provided for choosing a network for connection and handover based on the application requirements of a multi-mode, multi-radio user equipment. The selection of the network for connectivity and handover is based on one or more of the invoking of an application, the invoking of a second application, and the closing of an application.
Abstract:
Provided is a method and apparatus for providing web services by which the performance of web services is improved and exchanges of a large quantity of messages are effectively supported. The method includes: preparing the preference information, which pre-describes information required by a web services provider, to provide web services requested by a web services requestor, and the web services provider interacting with the preference information to minimize the number of messages exchanged between the web services requestor and the web services provider.
Abstract:
A lightweight and compact super-insulation system that is also capable of supporting a high level of compressive load is described. The system utilizes spacers to provide structural support and utilize controlled buckling of a thin protective outer skin supported by spacers to form strong catenary surfaces to protect insulation material underneath. The spacers may comprise an aerogel, or an aerogel may provide insulation separate from the spacer yet contained within the thin outer skin. The system will be useful for thermal management of variety of deep underwater structures such as pipe-in-pipe apparatus, risers or subsea trees for ultra-deep water oil-and-gas exploration.
Abstract:
Provided are extendable loop-back passive optical network (PON) and scheduling method and apparatus for the same. The loop-back type PON includes an OLT (optical line terminal) including a wavelength-tunable optical transmitter and a wavelength-locked optical receiver, and an RN (remote node) including an optical coupler/splitter, the optical coupler/splitter receiving optical signals from the wavelength-tunable optical transmitter and splitting the optical signals by wavelength so as to transmit the optical signals to corresponding ONTs (optical network terminals). Each of the ONTs transmits upstream data to the OLT using the same wavelength as the wavelength of the optical signal received from the OLT through the RN. Since the optical network makes use of the TDM and WDM communication schemes, the optical network can be maintained and upgraded at lower cost.
Abstract:
A method and system for processing sensor data in a context-aware system is provided. The system includes: a sensor service collecting the sensor data from a driver of a physical sensor and generating a low level event; an STHQ temporarily storing the generated event and an event generated previously by an event interceptor; and a sensor framework comprised of the event interceptor forming an EIC (event interpretation chain) which interprets the generated event and the event stored in the STHQ and generated previously in connection with each other, and generating or deleting an event or processing the generated event as an event necessary for an upper level application service through an interlocking with the STHQ. The present invention provides active services on the basis of context knowledge inputted from various sensors.
Abstract:
Provided are a physical coding sublayer (PCS) apparatus and an Ethernet layer architecture for a network-based tunable-wavelength passive optical network (T-PON) system employing an Ethernet communications technology, and more particularly, to a PCS apparatus and an Ethernet layer architecture for supporting a series of initialization function of allocating wavelengths between an optical line terminal (OLT) and an optical network terminal (ONT) and arranging the allocated wavelengths. A PCS layer transmits and allocates wavelength information such that wavelengths for setting a link between an OLT and an ONT are allocated, optical wavelengths within the ONT are observed while a system operates to allow continuous control so that operating of the system can be stably maintained.
Abstract:
In a flat display panel, a surface of at least one of a sustain electrode and an address electrode may be formed to have a curved surface. The surface of the electrode may be formed as a continuous curved surface. The sustain electrode and the address electrode may be elongated in a lengthwise direction thereof. These lengthwise directions may be perpendicular to each other. The electrode may be formed by transferring an electrode material onto the substrate using an electrode frame defined with electrode forming grooves each having a same sectional shape as the electrode. Therefore, the surface of the electrode may be formed as the curved surface.
