    Abstract: According to one embodiment, an optical device includes a liquid crystal element including a first substrate including a plurality of first control electrodes, a second substrate which is opposed to the first substrate and comprises a second control electrode, and a first liquid crystal layer held between the first substrate and the second substrate, and a modulation element opposed to the liquid crystal element, the modulation element including a modulation portion which modulates incident light, and a non-modulation portion which is adjacent to the modulation portion.

    Abstract: A display device includes: a plurality of pixel electrodes each of which is provided in each of a plurality of sub-pixels arranged in a display region; a driving electrode provided so as to overlap the plurality of pixel electrodes when seen in a plan view; a plurality of detecting electrodes provided so as to overlap the driving electrode when seen in a plan view; and a dummy electrode provided apart from the detecting electrodes. The detecting electrodes and the dummy electrode include a metal layer or an alloy layer. A ratio of total sum of areas of portions of the plurality sub-pixels which overlap any of the detecting electrodes and the dummy electrode when seen in a plan view to total sum of areas of the plurality of sub-pixels is 1 to 22%.

    Abstract: According to one embodiment, a display device includes a switching liquid crystal unit, a controller, and a display. The switching liquid crystal unit includes first and second polarizing layers, first and second substrate units, and a liquid crystal layer. The first substrate unit includes a first substrate provided between the polarizing layers, inner electrodes provided between the first substrate and the second polarizing layer, an insulating layer provided between the first substrate and the inner electrodes, and outer electrodes provided between the first substrate and the insulating layer. The second substrate unit includes a second substrate provided between the first substrate unit and the second polarizing layer, and a counter electrode provided between the second substrate and the first substrate unit. The liquid crystal layer is provided between the substrate units. The controller controls potentials of the electrodes. The display emits light including a parallax image.

    Abstract: According to an aspect, a display device includes a display part having pixels and a color filter; and a barrier part in which unit areas arranged above the display part, arranged in rows in a first direction, and extending in a second direction intersecting with the first direction. The barrier part includes a barrier substrate that has barrier electrodes arranged for each unit area and extending in the second direction, a counter substrate, a liquid crystal layer, and spacers arranged between the barrier substrate and the counter substrate. Each of the spacers is arranged between one barrier electrode out of the barrier electrodes and the other barrier electrode adjacent to the one barrier electrode, and overlaps with a filter of a color different from a color of a filter of the color filter that overlaps with a spacer adjacent to the spacer in the second direction.
