Abstract:
A mobile water filtration apparatus and method for on-site removal of contaminants from raw water comprising a portable platform and a first settling tank secured with respect to the platform. The settling tank includes flocculating agent and a lower portion into which sediment settles. A sloped trough is secured with respect to the platform and has an upper end which receives the flocculating-agent-containing water, a lower end, a plurality of spaced-apart walls between upper and lower ends which define a serpentine flow path, and a plurality of agitators between the walls. A terminal settling tank receives water from the trough lower end and includes a lower portion into which sediment settles and an outlet along an upper portion through which treated water flows. An exemplary apparatus includes a gate corresponding to each wall and defining an opening through which water flows.
Abstract:
Embodiments of systems, devices, and methods for treating, remediating, or abating carbon-containing wastes generate at least one of clean water; non-toxic, non-hazardous ash; or power. Some embodiments are modular, permitting rapid deployment, flexible configuration, and easy transportation. Embodiments of the systems treat carbon-containing aqueous waste, carbon-containing waste, or a combination thereof. The systems, devices, and methods are particularly suited to treating hydrocarbon-containing waste generated in oil and natural gas drilling and hydrofracturing.
Abstract:
The current invention provides a novel process for the treatment and reclamation of drilling frac flowback and produced wastewater from the drilling industry. The wastewater is delivered to the EMC/F System from a frac tank or other reservoir. The wastewater is pumped into the system and is treated sequentially by passing through a mechanical hydrocavitation unit, an electromagnetic unit, an electrocoagulation unit and/or a hydrocyclone and a flocculation-sedimentation tank. Polishing of the final effluent is accomplished by passing the water through a mixed media tank.
Abstract:
Contaminants are removed from raw water or discharge water from plants, such as sewerage and industrial plants, by applying direct current through an array of spaced, alternately charged electrodes to eliminate or minimize clogging of the electrodes with precipitated contaminants. Polarity may be switched periodically to assist in eliminating or minimizing clogging. In illustrated embodiments, electrode arrays are contained in housings of dielectric material to form modules, To increase processing capacity, the modules are arranged in parallel arrays. Alternatively, a single module is scaled up for large or industrial applications or scaled down for personal use. Instead of housing the electrode arrays in modules through which liquid passes, the electrode arrays for some batch applications are dipped in the water or aqueous solutions.
Abstract:
A separator assembly comprises a vertical vessel including a fluid inlet for receiving a fluid including a gas, at least two liquids, and solids, at least two liquid outlets for discharging the liquids, a gas outlet at an upper end thereof for discharging gas, and a solids outlet at a lower end thereof for discharging solids. A baffle plate extends across the vessel, and cooperates with the vessel to define an upper section and a lower section, and has a first conduit extending downwardly so that liquids and solids may flow into the lower section, and a second conduit extending upwardly so that gases may flow from the lower section to the upper section. A backpressure valve is in fluid communication with the gas outlet and is configured to discharge gas while maintaining a selected level of pressure inside the vessel.
Abstract:
An oil skimmer includes a frame for attaching a porous collection bag. The frame automatically tilts in response to water flow, relative to the frame, and the frame automatically returns to its original (“neutral”) position when the water flow ceases. In the tilted position, the frame orients a portion of the mouth of the bag below the surface of the water, so the bag collects floating contaminants. However, in the neutral position, the frame orients the mouth of the bag upward and such that the mouth is above the surface of the water to prevent previously captured contaminants from escaping from the bag and floating away. Optionally, the frame may be releasably locked in the neutral position to facilitate bag replacement or when no collection is desired. The skimmer may be mounted between hulls of a catamaran.

A highly portable solar UV disinfection and water storage container with a uniquely traceable security seal that passively indicates by means of a permanent photochromic color change the efficacy of the UV disinfection process performed upon the drinking water within the sealed container.
Abstract:
A field water purification system is described. The field water purification system includes a container and a filter coupled to an outlet port of the container. The container includes a first layer and a second layer of polymeric material. A first edge of the first layer is bonded to a first edge of the second layer. A second edge of the first layer is bonded to a second edge of the second layer. A first end of the first layer is bonded to a first end of the second layer. The outlet port is disposed in the first layer at a first distance from the first end. A flat water filter is also described. A method for treating water is also described.
Abstract:
A mobile water recovery system and methods of recycling water from slurry produced by pavement grinding machines. The system includes a platform having a plurality of wheels, a slurry storage tank or a slurry settling tank, a centrifuge in flow communication with the slurry storage tank or slurry settling tank, such as a hydraulic centrifuge, a solids storage component, and a cleaned water storage tank in flow communication with the centrifuge. The system may also include an acidifier which may be located within the cleaned water storage tank. The acidifier may bubble engine exhaust through the cleaned water or may dispense a pH adjusting agent into the clean water storage tank.
Abstract:
A system and method for providing mobile or temporary water treatment involving ion exchange resins includes a service centre, one or more treatment vehicles, a resin transfer hub and one or more resin transport vehicles. The service centre can be used to regenerate one or more types of ion exchange resins. The treatment vehicle carries water treatment equipment including a tank holding ion exchange resin. The resin transfer hub facilitates moving resin between a treatment vehicle and a resin transport vehicle. The resin transport vehicle is adapted for carrying resin by one or more of land, sea and air between the resin forwarding centre and the service centre. In operation, a treatment vehicle brings resin requiring regeneration to the resin transfer hub, where it is emptied and then re-filled with regenerated resin. Resin requiring regeneration is transferred to a resin transport vehicle for transport to the service centre. The resin transport vehicle is re-filled there with regenerated resin, which is taken back to the resin transfer hub for transferred to a treatment vehicle.
