Abstract:
A two (or more) piston pump system (10) is provided with both pumps (12) being crank (14) driven. The system does not have a mechanical camshaft, but a software algorithm, which acts like one in controller (20). The algorithm will LEARN and create a unique speed profile, which will mimic the mechanical camshaft. For practical purposes the speed profile of output gear is called Cam profile with software acting as an imaginary camshaft. The algorithm utilizes Crank Angle Estimation, Learn Curve Generation, Smoothing and Advance Timing Calculation.
Abstract:
An apparatus for tuning pump speed at an optimal or desired speed using an automated method is disclosed. The apparatus includes a vacuum pump connected to a chamber for evacuating gas from the chamber. A sensor measures one or more characteristics, such as pressure, of the gas in the chamber. The measured characteristic is compared to a predetermined value. The speed of vacuum pump is adjusted based on the comparison until it falls in a desired range.
Abstract:

Abstract:
The present invention relates to a vacuum pumping system (18) for evacuating gas from a plurality of chambers (12, 14, 16) at different pressures. The pumping system comprises a plurality of compound vacuum pumps (20, 22), wherein each compound pump comprises a plurality of pumping mechanisms (24,26,28) connected in series between a pump inlet (30) and a pump exhaust (32) and an interstage port (34, 36) between pumping mechanisms in the series. The system is configured such that gas evacuated from one of said chambers is pumped through the interstage ports of at least two of said compound pumps.
Abstract:
A system for cancelling or attenuating noise in at least two positive displacement compressors proximately located from each other for use with a heating or cooling system. A lead compressor and a lag compressor have a controllable rotational speed and phase of operation. A controller selectably controls the rotational speed and the phase of operation of each of the compressors. The controller controls the rotational speed of the compressors at substantially the same speed for each compressor, with a phase-lock loop and a comparator circuit for each compressor. The controller controls the phase of operation of the compressors through an oscillator so that the lead and lag compressor pressure pulses are spaced between successive outlet pressure pulses to effectively double the combined pulsation frequency for noise attenuation.

Abstract:
A method of determining a leakage in a piston machine comprising at least two pistons is provided. The rotational velocity of the piston machine, and therefore the volume flow through the piston machine, is varied periodically as part of a time-limited active test while measuring the differential pressure and the angular position. An angular position-based Fourier analysis of the measured values from differential pressure and rotational velocity measurements performed during the test are used to experimentally determine the amplitude ratio and phase angle difference between volume flow variations and pressure variations. The amplitude ratio and phase angle difference are used, together with an angular position-based Fourier analysis of the measurements of differential pressure and rotational speed made after the active test, to determine the amplitude and phase of the leakage flow.

A power pump performance analysis system and methods includes a signal processor connected to certain sensors for sensing pressures and stresses in the cylinder chambers and the inlet and discharge piping of a single or multicylinder pump. Pump speed and pump piston position may be determined by a crankshaft position sensor. Performance analyses for pump work performed, pump cylinder chamber stress, pump fluid end useful cycles to failure, and crosshead loading and shock analysis are provided for estimating pump component life and determining times for component replacement before failure.
Abstract:
A pump system includes a fixed or variable capacity pump and a speed-related control mechanism to alter the capacity of a variable capacity pump or to alter the relief pressure of a fixed capacity pump in response to changes in the operating speed of the pump. A pressure generator comprising a volume of working fluid is rotated at a speed related to the operating speed of the pump and creates a forced vortex in the working fluid. The pressure induced in the working fluid of the forced vortex is used as a speed related control to alter the discharge pressure of the pump as desired.
