Abstract: A power generation system includes a manifold having multiple plenums, capable of receiving multiple solid rocket motors. Initiators are coupled to the manifold, and are operatively coupled to respective of the plenums, to selectively fire different groups of the rocket motors coupled to respective of the plenums. The rocket motors act in parallel, to provide thrust in a single direction. The initiators may activate ignition charges that are in the plenums. The plenums may be annular plenums, which may be located in an annular manifold. The plenums may be lined with an insulator material. A cover may be used to cover the plenums, and also to receive the rocket motors. The rocket motors may be solid-fuel rocket motors, with propellant grains and nozzles. The individual rocket motors may have separate ignition booster charges coupled to the plenum, which are ignited by the ignition charge.

Abstract: An apparatus includes a photonic integrated circuit having an optical phased array, where the optical phased array includes multiple unit cells. Each unit cell includes at least one antenna element configured to transmit or receive multiple optical signals having spectrally-distinct wavelengths or wavelength ranges. Each unit cell also includes at least one signal pathway configured to transport the optical signals to or from the at least one antenna element. Each unit cell further includes a phase modulator configured to modify phases of the optical signals being transported through the at least one signal pathway. Each unit cell is configured to provide correlated phase shifts to the optical signals having the spectrally-distinct wavelengths or wavelength ranges.

Abstract: A beam steering architecture for an optical sensor is based upon a pair of Micro-Electro-Mechanical System (MEMS) Micro-Mirror Arrays (MMAs) and a fold mirror. The MEMS MMAs scan both primary and secondary FOR providing considerable flexibility to scan a scene to provide not only active imaging (to supplement passive imaging) but also simultaneously allowing for other optical functions such as establishing a communications link, providing an optical transmit beam for another detection platform or determining a range to target. A special class of MEMS MMAs that provides a “piston” capability in which the individual mirrors may translate enables a suite of optical functions to “shape” the optical transmit beam.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for updating data in a computer network. Abstract: An IQ mixer is used in a Pound-stabilized microwave source to detect amplitude modulation of the signal reflected from the reference resonator. By properly configuring the IQ mixer so that the LO and RF inputs are maintained in quadrature at the Q mixer, hence in-phase at the I mixer, lower levels of amplitude modulation may be detected at lower modulation frequencies compatible with optimal choices of resonator coupling and maximal phase to amplitude conversion.
