    Abstract: A processor of a printing apparatus obtains and maintains the media type of print media located in a media storage component of the printing apparatus. The processor also accesses a reference file containing different printing speed limits for different media types. The reference file can be maintained in an electronic storage component of the printing apparatus. The processor uses the reference file to determine an appropriate printing speed limit for a printing engine of the printing apparatus that corresponds to the media type of the print media in the media storage component. Further, a user interface of the printing apparatus can display an overspeed indicator, and/or the processor can stop the printing from occurring, based on a job-set printing speed of the printing engine being above the printing speed limit.

    Abstract: A three-dimensional (3D) metal object manufacturing apparatus has a build platform heater that is configured with a plurality of temperature sensors and heating elements distributed throughout the heater. The signals generated by the temperature sensors are monitored by a controller and when one of the signals is outside of a temperature range around a temperature setpoint for the heater, the controller adjusts a PWM signal operating a switch that connects the heating element corresponding to the temperature sensor that generated the signal outside of the temperature range. The temperature sensors and heating elements are distributed in a plurality of cells that border one another in a contiguous pattern.

    Abstract: A printing system comprises a print fluid deposition assembly, a media transport device, and an air flow control system. The print fluid deposition assembly comprises a printhead to eject a print fluid through an opening of a carrier plate to a deposition region. The media transport device holds a print medium against the movable support surface by vacuum suction and transports the print medium through the deposition region. The air flow control system comprises an air supply unit to selectively flow air through the opening based on a location of a print medium relative to the printhead. The air supply unit comprises an air guide structure comprising an air outlet portion extending into the opening of the carrier plate between the printhead and the carrier plate, the air outlet portion terminating in an end wall that is angled obliquely relative to the movable support surface towards a reverse-process direction.

    Abstract: Methods for forming latexes are provided. In embodiments, such a method comprises adding a first portion of a monomer emulsion comprising water, a monomer, an acidic monomer, a multifunctional monomer, and a first reactive surfactant to a reactive surfactant solution comprising water and a second reactive surfactant to form a reaction mixture, wherein the reactive surfactant solution does not comprise monomers other than the second reactive surfactant; adding a first portion of an initiator solution to the reaction mixture so that monomers undergo polymerization reactions to form resin seeds in the reaction mixture; adding a second portion of the monomer emulsion to the reaction mixture comprising the resin seeds; and adding a second portion of the initiator solution to the reaction mixture to form a latex comprising resin particles.
