Abstract:
A system for conveying material is disclosed. The system includes: a hopper having a feed end and a discharge end, wherein the feed end is configured to receive material; and an elongate conveyor downstream from the discharge end, wherein the elongate conveyor is configured to pivot about at least three axes.
Abstract:
A contact lens package includes a pair of shell members that are removably attached to each other. An sponge member positioned between the shell members contains a recess for housing a contact lens and contact lens solution. One end of each of the shell members contains a tab, the tabs being juxtaposed with one another when the shell members are attached to each other. The package is opened by pulling apart the juxtaposed tabs and separating the shell members, thereby enabling access to the contact lens. The tabs have aligned apertures for hanging the package from one end thereof. An opposite end of the package is provided with a gusset that is sized and shaped for positioning the package in a free standing position. One of the shell members contains a window for allowing visual exposure of the contact lens.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a group of quinolyl, isoquinolyl and pyridyl ureas, their the use in treating raf mediated diseases, and pharmaceutical compositions which contain these ureas for use in such therapy.
Abstract:
A package for dispensing a viscous product includes a container having an end wall, a resilient sidewall, and a finish to which a skirt of a dispensing closure is attached. The closure includes a base wall having a discharge opening and an adjacent vent opening. A valve body extends from the base wall and includes a through passage aligned with the vent opening. A check valve is disposed within the valve body, and a tube includes a first end attached to the valve body and extends from the fixed end toward the end wall of the container, and terminates in an open second end adjacent to the end wall of the container. The check valve functions when the container is squeezed to prevent air passage out the vent opening, and functions when the container is released to permit air passage through the vent opening and the tube.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an immunogenic conjugate comprising a carrier molecule coupled to an autoinducer of a Gram negative bacteria. The immunogenic conjugate, when combined with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, forms a suitable vaccine for mammals to prevent infection by the Gram negative bacteria. The immunogenic conjugate is also used to raise and subsequently isolate antibodies or binding portions thereof which are capable of recognizing and binding to the autoinducer. The antibodies or binding portions thereof are utilized in a method of treating infections, a method of inhibiting autoinducer activity, and in diagnostic assays which detect the presence of autoinducers or autoinducer antagonists in fluid or tissue samples.

Abstract:
A method of manufacturing and certifying operation of a system for producing plastic containers using equipment having at least one controllable action that affects quality of containers produced by the equipment includes inspecting raw materials for parameters that affect manufacturability and acceptability of containers produced from such materials, monitoring operation of the equipment including the at least one controllable action, inspecting containers produced by the equipment for variations that affect acceptability of the containers, automatically controlling operation of the equipment to eliminate variations in response to information obtained during the inspecting and monitoring steps, and certifying acceptability of containers produced by the equipment. In one presently preferred embodiment, some or all of these steps can be carried out automatically, such as by a controller that monitors the various steps and operational parameters of the manufacturing process to ensure compliance with predetermined limits for each step and operational parameter.
Abstract:
A method of making an identifiable container by providing a molded plastic container that includes at least one layer of material blended with an additive. A mask is provided having a radiation aperture in the form of identifiable indicia, and radiation is directed through the aperture of the mask and onto the container such that the radiation is absorbed by the additive, thereby causing the additive to visibly respond in the form of the identifiable indicia.
Abstract:
A force limiting workpiece holding device for holding a workpiece in a workpiece processing assembly having a spindle and a closer that applies a force, comprises a workpiece holder slidably mounted to the spindle. The workpiece holder includes a plurality of circumferentially-spaced gripping segments that are movable between expanded and contracted positions to grip and release a workpiece. A force limiting coupling structure includes a biasing structure having a spring force. The coupling structure is operatively mountable between the workpiece holder and the closer such that a force applied by the closer to move the gripping segments of the workpiece holder between the expanded and contracted positions is transferred to the workpiece holder through the coupling structure and the biasing structure thereof, whereby a resultant force being applied to the workpiece holder by the closer is limited to the spring force of the biasing structure.
