Abstract:
A pillow is provided herein which includes a cover having opposing first and second panels. A gusset perimetrically bounds, and joins, the first and second panels. The gusset is formed of an open cell construction. Compliant fill material is disposed within the cover. Advantageously, with the subject invention, a pillow is provided allowing for lateral ventilation between opposing panels. This permits a cooling effect while a user is resting or sleeping.
Abstract:
A support cushion for converting a temperature difference into an electrical voltage is provided. The support cushion includes a body supporting portion, a heat dissipating portion comprised of a thermally-absorbent material and positioned adjacent to the body supporting portion, and a plurality of thermoelectric elements that are positioned and configured to convert a temperature difference between the body supporting portion and the heat dissipating portion into an electric voltage at a charging port. Methods of converting a temperature difference into an electric voltage are also provided.
Abstract:
Particular infant support or nursing pillows are disclosed, for supporting an infant in a variety of settings by providing a stable surface upon which to rest. Various embodiments include a generally crescent shaped device, including a resilient fill material surrounded by a fabric shell and having a top and a bottom surface connected by a band of uniform width extending vertically and wholly about the perimeter of the pillow. The support pillow may be combined with an accessory device to form a support pillow assembly. An attachment mechanism may be configured to attach the accessory device to the support pillow such that the accessory device is arranged to direct a perceptible effect to at least one of the first arm, the second arm, and the medial region of the support pillow.
Abstract:
A pillow includes an inferior portion and an outer portion. The interior portion is comprised of a first flexible foam, while the outer portion is comprised of a second flexible foam having a density different than that of the first flexible foam. Methods of producing a pillow are also provided whereby either a first foam precursor is dispensed into a central portion of a mold to provided a first flexible foam, or a pre-formed foam insert comprised of a first flexible foam is placed into a central portion of a mold. A second foam precursor is then subsequently dispensed into a peripheral portion of the mold to produce a second flexible foam having a density different than that of the first flexible foam. Upon reaction and expansion of the foam precursors, a molded foam pillow is produced having dual densities.

Abstract:
A heating and vibrating pillow for providing therapeutic heating and massaging functions through a conventionally sized and shaped bed pillow. The heating and vibrating pillow comprises a pillow housing filled with filling material such that a vibrating encasement is suspended therein. The surface of one side of the pillow housing includes an electrical switch operated flexible heating mesh configured to generate a heated area on the surface of the pillow housing. The vibrating encasement includes an electrical switch operated vibrator that is configured to generate vibrations from the center of the pillow. The heating and vibrating pillow is wired to receive electricity from either a electrical plug an internal battery.
Abstract:
A bolster for supporting an object. The bolster has a frame. A blower is mounted on the frame and configured to blow air through the bolster. A fabric cover includes air-permeable fabric stretched over and secured to the frame to provide cushiony support for the object. The fabric defines a support surface and a bolster interior and is positioned on the frame such that blown air from the blower flows through the bolster interior and passes through the fabric adjacent the support surface to provide ventilation.
Abstract:
A support cushion for providing individualized heating and cooling to a user resting on the support cushion is provided. The support cushion includes a body supporting portion, a plurality of thermoelectric elements positioned and configured to selectively provide heating or cooling of the body supporting portion, and a heat dissipating portion that is comprised of a thermally-absorbent material and is operably connected to the thermoelectric elements. Methods of controlling a surface temperature of a support cushion are also provided.
Abstract:
A pillow cover is provided that includes a first panel and a second panel perimetrically joined with the first panel such that inner surfaces of the first and second panels define a cavity having a void volume. The first and second panels are each made from a first material. An opening extends through the inner surface of the first panel and an outer surface of the first panel. The pillow cover includes a patch covering the opening. The patch is made from a second material that is different than the first material.
Abstract:
A support cushion for is provided that includes a core comprised of a first flexible foam and a sleeve comprised of a second flexible foam. The sleeve has a first side and a second side opposite the first side that together encapsulate the core. The support cushion further includes an amount of phase change material that is incorporated into at least one of the first side or the second side of the sleeve.
