Abstract:
A method of converting hydrocarbons requires contacting a hydrocarbon stream containing alkylated aromatic hydrocarbons with a catalyst of a phosphorus-containing pentasil zeolite in a reactor. The phosphorus-containing pentasil zeolite having a phosphorus content of 7.5% or less by weight of zeolite, a pore volume of at least 0.2 ml/g, and a 27Al MAS NMR spectrum characterized by a peak at or near 50 ppm that is greater than any other peak in said spectrum. A benzene-enriched output stream is recovered from the reactor.

Abstract:
A catalyst can be used to convert an alcohol in a dehydration process into an olefin having the same number of carbon atoms as the alcohol. The catalyst can include a phosphorus modified zeolite made by providing a zeolite with at least one ten member ring in the structure, steaming the zeolite, mixing the zeolite with binders and shaping additives, and shaping the zeolite. An ion-exchange step can be performed, and the shaped catalyst can be steamed. Phosphorus can be introduced on the catalyst at an amount of at least 0.1 wt %, such as by dry impregnation or chemical vapor deposition. A metal can be introduced. The catalyst can be washed and/or calcinated, and steamed in an equilibration step. The steaming severity (X) can be at least about 2. The catalyst can be steamed at a temperature above 625° C., such as a temperature ranging from 700 to 800° C.

A catalyst for purification of exhaust gas, in which a noble metal is supported on a metal oxide support, has a basic site content of 1 mmol/L-cat or less, as determined on the basis of an amount of CO2 desorbed per liter of the catalyst as measured by a CO2 temperature-programmed desorption method.
Abstract:
A catalyst composition is provided having a CHA crystal structure; about 0.5 to about 5.0 mol % phosphorus; and SiO2 and Al2O3 in a mole ratio of about 5 to about 40. The catalyst composition is capable of NOx conversion at elevated temperatures. A catalytically active washcoat includes such catalyst compositions and one or more promoters or stabilizers, and may be applied to a monolith substrate to produce a catalytically active article. Methods of reducing NOx employing the catalyst compositions are also provided.

Abstract:
A self activating catalyst for treating heavy hydrocarbon feedstocks that comprises a calcined particle comprising a co-mulled mixture made by co-mulling inorganic oxide powder, molybdenum trioxide powder, and a nickel compound and then forming the co-mulled mixture into a particle that is calcined to thereby provide the calcined particle. The calcined particle comprises from 1 to 10 weight percent molybdenum and nickel that is present in an amount such that the weight ratio of said nickel-to-molybdenum is less than 0.4. The calcined particle has a pore size distribution that contributes to the unique properties of the catalyst. The calcined particle and catalyst also exhibits a unique Raman spectrum. The self activating catalyst is activated when contacted under suitable process conditions with a heavy residue feedstock having high nickel, vanadium and sulfur concentrations.
