Abstract: The present invention provides a composite catalyst for diminishing energy demand during carbon dioxide absorbent regeneration and a method for producing the same.
The present invention more particularly relates to a composite catalyst in which the surface or inside of activated carbon activated carbon used as a porous carrier is modified with oxides of one or more metals selected from a transition metal group consisting of Fe, Ni, and Mo, and a method for producing the composite catalyst.
The activated carbon composite catalyst modified with a metal of the present invention is able to regenerate MEA (monoethanolamine) at a low temperature of 100° C. or below to diminish heat consumption, can decrease the heat duty by increasing the carbon dioxide desorption rate at a low temperature of 100° C. or below as well as acquire improved results through the relation between the BET surface area and the total acid sites, and can be usefully used as a technology capable of diminishing energy demand during energy-efficient CO2 absorbent regeneration at an economical cost since materials for production are inexpensive and abundant.-

Abstract: Methods for synthesizing a mesoporous nano-sized zeolite beta are described. The method includes preparing an aqueous hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) solution and adding nano-sized zeolite particles having a BEA framework type, a particle size of less than or equal to 100 nm, and a microporous framework with a plurality of micropore s having diameters of less than or equal to 2 nm to form a second solution. The second solution does not include a base. The method further includes transferring the second solution to an autoclave operated at 25° C. to 200° C. for 3 to 24 hours to form a colloid; washing the colloid with water to form a washed colloid; drying the washed colloid at 100° C. to 200° C. for 4 to 24 hours to form a zeolite precursor; and calcining the zeolite precursor at 250° C. to 600° C. for 1 to 8 hours to form the mesoporous nano-sized zeolite beta.

Abstract: A composition comprising a promotor component is disclosed comprising a mixture of one or more catalytically active components and one or more oxidized disulfide oil (ODSO) compounds, including a water-soluble fraction of ODSO. A composition comprising an aqueous solution of one or more catalytically active components and a promotor component is also disclosed. In certain embodiments the ODSO is obtained from the effluent of an enhanced MEROX process. The compositions facilitate transfer of catalytically active components (or components that will be catalytically active in the finished solid catalyst material) onto the surface of support materials.

Abstract: Processes for converting a hydrocarbon reactant into an alcohol compound and/or a carbonyl compound are disclosed in which the hydrocarbon reactant and a supported transition metal catalyst—containing molybdenum, tungsten, or vanadium—are irradiated with a light beam at a wavelength in the UV-visible spectrum, optionally in an oxidizing atmosphere, to form a reduced transition metal catalyst, followed by hydrolyzing the reduced transition metal catalyst to form a reaction product containing the alcohol compound and/or the carbonyl compound.

Abstract: A process for oligomerizing an olefin stream with an oligomerization catalyst to produce an oligomerized olefin stream. Oligomerization may comprise a first stage ethylene oligomerization step followed by a second stage oligomerization of the first stage oligomerized olefin to higher olefins. The oligomerized olefin stream can be separated into jet and diesel fuel streams. The olefin stream may be obtained by converting oxygenates to olefins with an MTO catalyst.
