Abstract: A device includes a plurality of photon sources coupled to a plurality of output terminals. The plurality of photon sources are coupled together, by a first switch layer, into a plurality of photon source groups. The first switch layer comprises a plurality of switches. The device further includes a second switch layer coupled to output terminals of the first switch layer. The second switch layer includes a plurality of second layer n-by-n switches and a plurality of second layer l-by-l switches, wherein l is less than n. At least two output terminals from two respective photon sources residing within a first photon source group of the plurality of photon source groups and a second photon source group of the plurality of photon source groups are coupled directly to respective output terminals of the device without being coupled to any intervening second switch from the second switch layer.

Abstract: An electronic device includes a first superconducting wire (with a first end and a second end) having a first threshold superconducting current. The device includes a second superconducting wire (with a first end and a second end) having a second threshold superconducting current that is less than the first threshold superconducting current. The second end of the first superconducting wire and the second end of the second superconducting wire are coupled to a common voltage node. A resistor is coupled between the first superconducting wire and the second superconducting wire, with a first end of the resistor coupled to the first end of the first superconducting wire and a second end of the resistor coupled to the first end of the second superconducting wire. The device includes a current source coupled with the first superconducting wire, and coupled with a combination of the resistor and the second superconducting wire.

Abstract: A photon source includes a photo-pair generator and a detection device. The photo-pair generator is configured to generate a photon-pair in receiving an input signal. A first photon of the photon-pair is output from the photon source via a first optical path. The detection device is configured to receive a second photon of the photon-pair. The detection device includes a transistor that has a semiconducting component that is a source and a drain of the transistor, and a superconducting component that is adjacent to the semiconducting component and is a gate of the transistor. The transistor is configured to transition from an off state to an on state in response a photon being incident upon the detection device.

Abstract: A Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI) filter comprising one or more passive compensation structures are described. The passive compensation structures yield MZI filters that are intrinsically tolerant to perturbations in waveguide dimensions and/or other ambient conditions. The use of n+1 waveguide widths can mitigate n different sources of perturbation to the filter. The use of at least three different waveguide widths for each Mach-Zehnder waveguide can alleviate sensitivity of filter performance to random width or temperature variations. A tolerance compensation portion is positioned between a first coupler section and a second coupler section, wherein the tolerance compensation portion includes a first compensation section having a second width, a second compensation section having a third width and a third compensation section having a fourth width, wherein the fourth width is greater than the third width and the third width is greater than the second width.

Abstract: A method includes receiving Bell pairs. Photons are obtained in a Greenberger-Hom-Zeilinger (GHZ) state by providing, to a first beam splitter, a photon from a first Bell pair and a photon from a second Bell pair. The first beam splitter is coupled with a first output channel and a second output channel. Obtaining the photons in the GHZ state further includes providing, to a second beam splitter, a photon from a third Bell pair and a photon from a fourth Bell pair. The second beam splitter is coupled with a third output channel arid a fourth output channel. Obtaining the photons in the GHZ state further includes providing a photon output from the second output channel as a first input to a detector and a photon output in the third output channel a second input to the first detector.

Abstract: Techniques disclosed herein relate to photon sources with high spectral purity and high brightness. In one embodiment, a photon-pair source includes a pump waveguide, a first resonator coupled to the pump waveguide to couple pump photons from the pump waveguide into the first resonator, a second resonator coupled to the first resonator, and an output waveguide coupled to the second resonator. The second resonator is configured to convert the pump photons into photon pairs. The second resonator and the first resonator are configured to cause a coupling-induced resonance splitting in the second resonator or the first resonator. The second resonator and the output waveguide are configured to couple the photon pairs from the second resonator into the output waveguide. In some embodiments, the photo-pair source includes one or more tuners for tuning at least one of the first resonator or the second resonator.

The device further includes a plurality of second switches. Each second switch includes a plurality of second channels. Each second channel is coupled with a respective first channel from a distinct first switch of the plurality of first switches. Each second switch is configured to shift photons in the plurality of second channels by zero or more channels, based on second configuration information provided to the second switch.
