Abstract: Masking tapes that changes color when the tape is rubbed down or dispensed onto an adherend and methods of making such tapes are disclosed herein. The tape includes a backing, a layer of adhesive on the bottom surface of the backing, and a release structure on the top surface of the backing that includes a pressure-chromic indicator and a release layer. The pressure-chromic indicator is characterized in that it is not activated by the pressure applied during the manufacturing process, but is activated by the pressure applied when the tape is rubbed or dispensed onto an adherend.

Abstract: Providing a non-silicone release sheet that has a good release property and in which blocking does not occur even after long periods of storage in a wound roll-like shape.A release sheet 10 is constructed by laminating an undercoat layer 12 and a release agent layer 13 on a release sheet base 11. The release agent layer 13 is formed of a polyolefin resin composition containing a polyolefin thermoplastic resin having density of 0.800 to 0.905 g/cm3 and polymerized with a multi-site catalyst. In the release agent layer 13, an average modulus of elasticity of the release agent layer at 23° C. in 50 to 1000 nm depths from the surface thereof, as measured by Nano Indentation Method, is 0.1 to 0.3 GPa, and a roughness is formed on the surface so that the surface roughness Ra1 thereof is 100 to 700 nm.

Abstract: A label assembly including one or more dissolvable thermal direct adhesive labels mounted on a release liner. According to one embodiment, each label includes a base layer, a thermal direct layer, an adhesive layer, and a barrier layer. The base layer, which has an upper surface and a lower surface, is water-dissolvable and may be made of a water-dissolvable paper. The thermal direct layer is positioned directly over the upper surface of the base layer and functions in the conventional manner to produce markings therein in response to heat. The adhesive layer is water-dissolvable and is positioned below the lower surface of the base layer. The barrier layer, which is positioned directly below the lower surface of the base layer and directly over the adhesive layer, serves to prevent migration of the adhesive layer through the base layer and into contact with the thermal direct layer.

Abstract: An adhesive tape with an antistatic release coating is provided. The release includes an antistatic additive made from a reaction product of from about 1 to 30 parts hydrophilic monomer, from about 5 to 40 parts ionic monomer, and from about 20 to 80 parts hydrophobic monomer. A release agent can also be added to the release coating. The adhesive tape does not recoil upon itself when unrolled from the tape core.

Abstract: Ink-imprintable release coating compositions are described which comprise a polymer comprising a polyurethane, a fluoroacrylate polymer or copolymer, or an addition cured or a condensation cured silicone polymer containing dispersed and/or emulsified resin particles, resin particle domains, or both, and, optionally, inorganic particles. Abstract: The present application relates to a method and device for making a magnetically mountable substrate construction from a selected substrate for magnetic mounting to a structure including magnetizable material. Abstract: Applied to a substrate such as paper banknotes is a thread which includes a PET carrier layer with release layers on both surfaces of the carrier layer, and a metallic layer outward of one release layer. An adhesive layer lies outward of the metallic layer. When a substrate is brought into contact with the adhesive layer, the result is to bond the metallic layer to the substrate. Following this, the PET carrier layer is peeled away, leaving the metallic layer bonded to the substrate. An apparatus for accomplishing these steps includes means for bringing the substrate into contact with the adhesive layer, and means for peeling the PET carrier layer away so that it separates from the metallic layer at the adjacent release layer.
