Abstract: A DBA may pre-generate database recovery jobs on a convenient schedule at a local site, then recover a database at a disaster recovery site. Archive log files for the database that are generated in the interim between recovery job generation and recovery job execution are automatically incorporated into the recovery job when it executes, extending the recovery point closer to the time of the disruption that triggered the need or desire for recovery.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a computer-implemented method includes the step of accessing a set of data blocks in a local application server disk in an application server. It is determined which of the set of data blocks are used to store data. The data blocks used to store data are read to a deduplication store on the storage appliance. It is determined that a modification occurs to a data block in the local application server disk of the application server. The modification is read to the deduplication store. A remote virtual image of the application server can be generated from the deduplication store.

Abstract: Disclosed are systems, apparatus, and methods for propagating data changes in a distributed computing system from source components to target components. In accordance with various embodiments, one or more producer components of a data-conveyor system may detect changes to data records in one or more source components, and store backlog entries responsive to detecting the changes, wherein these backlog entries do not include contents of the data record. One or more consumer components of the data-conveyor system may retrieve updated data of changed data records based on the backlog entries and provide the updated data to one or more target component(s).

The system is configured for retrieving data associated with the first user interaction in real-time via an established communication link with one or more interaction channels accessible to the first user; processing the data to identify a pattern associated with the first user interaction; identifying an error associated with at least a portion of the data; determining a time stamp and an interaction channel associated with the portion of data identified to be in error; replaying the data associated with the first user interaction; process the portion of data identified to be in error to rectify the error; and storing the transformed portion of data in the database.

Abstract: In some example embodiments, a method comprises: receiving, by a first node of a plurality of nodes in a distributed database system on a shared disk cluster infrastructure, a transaction request to perform a user database transaction a data item in a user database on a shared disk; acquiring, by the first node, a transaction lock for the data item; storing a lock file for the user database transaction in a lock information database on the shared disk, the lock file comprising lock information for the transaction lock and an indication of a status of the user database transaction, and the lock information comprising an identification of a location of the data item; and storing a transaction record of the user database transaction in the user database on the shared disk subsequent to the storing of the lock file in the lock information database on the shared disk.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a system for managing a virtualization environment includes a set of host machines, each of which includes a hypervisor, virtual machines, and a virtual machine controller, and a first virtualized file server configured to receive a request to access a storage item located at a second virtualized file server, determine that the storage item is designated as being accessible by other virtualized file servers, identify an FSVM of the second virtualized file server at which the storage item is located, and forward the request to the FSVM of the second virtualized file server. The storage item may be designated as being accessible by other virtualized file servers when the storage item is associated with a predetermined tag value indicating that the storage item is shared among virtualized file servers. The predetermined tag value may be stored in a sharding map in association with the storage item.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a system for managing a virtualization environment comprises a plurality of host machines, one or more virtual disks comprising a plurality of storage devices, a virtualized file server (VFS) comprising a plurality of file server virtual machines (FSVMs), wherein each of the FSVMs is running on one of the host machines and conducts I/O transactions with the one or more virtual disks, and a virtualized file server backup system configured to back up data stored in a VFS located a cluster of host machines to an object store, and retrieve the backed-up data as needed to restore the data in the VFS. The object store may be located in a public cloud. The object store may include a low-cost storage medium within the cluster. An FSVM of the VFS may provide an object store interface to low-cost storage media.

Abstract: A system that implements a data storage service may store data for a database table in multiple replicated partitions on respective storage nodes. In response to a request to back up a table, the service may back up individual partitions of the table to a remote storage system independently and (in some cases) in parallel, and may update (or create) and store metadata about the table and its partitions on storage nodes of the data storage service and/or in the remote storage system. Backing up each partition may include exporting it from the database in which the table is stored, packaging and compressing the exported partition for upload, and uploading the exported, packaged, and compressed partition to the remote storage system. The remote storage system may be a key-value durable storage system in which each backed-up partition is accessible using its partition identifier as the key.
