Abstract: A semiconductor pixel unit for sensing near-infrared light, and for optionally simultaneously sensing visible light. The pixel unit comprises a single substrate with a first semiconductor region and a second semiconductor region electrically separated by an insulating region, for example a buried oxide layer. The pixel unit is adapted for generating a lateral electrical field in the second region for facilitating transport of photoelectrons generated in the second region by near-infrared light passing through the first region and the insulating region.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing a sensor device comprising: configuring a moulding support structure and a packaging mould so as to provide predetermined pathways to accommodate a moulding compound, the moulding support structure defining a first notional volume adjacent a second notional volume. An elongate sensor element and the moulding support structure are configured so that the moulding support structure fixedly carries the elongate sensor element and the elongate sensor element resides substantially in the first notional volume and extends towards the second notional volume, the elongate sensor element having an electrical contact electrically coupled to another electrical contact disposed within the second notional volume. The moulding support structure carrying (102) the elongate sensor element is disposed within the packaging mould (106). The moulding compound is then introduced (110) into the packaging mould during a predetermined period of time (112) so that the moulding compound fills the predetermined pathways, thereby filling the second notional volume and surrounding the elongate sensor element within the second notional volume without contacting the elongate sensor element.

Abstract: A transmitter for establishing communication between a device and a differential network bus includes current driving means connected to each of the two conduction lines of the differential network bus, through a first and second conduction paths of the transmitter; at least one unidirectional current regulator for extracting a first current equal to a known ratio of a parasitic current circulating through the first conduction path, with a direction inverse to the driving current through the conduction path connected to one of the lines of the differential bus; means for obtaining, from the first current, a second current with a magnitude equal to the original magnitude of the parasitic current; and means for introducing the second current into the second conduction path connected to the other line of the differential bus.

Abstract: A sensor device for use in harsh media, comprising a silicon die comprises a lowly doped region, and a contact layer, contacting the silicon die. The contact layer comprises a refractory metal and an ohmic contact to the silicon die via a silicide of the refractory metal. A noble metal layer is provided over the contact layer such that the contact layer is completely covered by the noble metal layer. The noble metal layer comprises palladium, platinum or a metal alloy of palladium and/or platinum. The noble metal layer is patterned to form an interconnect structure and a contact connecting via the contact layer to the ohmic contact. The noble metal layer is adapted for providing a shield to prevent modulation of the lowly doped region by surface charges. The noble metal layer may advantageously protect the contact layer against harsh media in an external environment of the sensor device.

Abstract: A device for supervising ports of an integrated circuit is arranged for exchanging information with a central processing unit of an integrated circuit and for communicating with ports of the integrated circuit. The device comprises address decoding means, access control means, and parity controlling means. The device for supervising ports comprises read-back information means arranged for receiving input from the port and for passing that input to the parity control means and in that the address decoding means, the access control means, the read-back information means and the parity controlling means are arranged to be operative in a background loop wherein a range of port addresses is monitored. The read-back information means reads data and one or more parity bits stored on ports with an address in the range and the parity controlling means performs a parity check on the one or more parity bits stored on the ports.

Abstract: A circuit for receiving and processing a bit stream obtained from an electronic communication bus-system comprises a bit stream processor and bit sampling of the bit stream to provide a sampled output signal. The circuit comprises a frame decoder for decoding a data frame encoded in the sampled output signal, and a clock signal generator for generating a first clock signal for the bit stream processor. The circuit comprises a clock signal downsampler for generating a second clock signal having a lower frequency than the first clock signal, in which the second clock signal is based on a co-occurrence of a clock pulse in the first clock signal and the emission of a bit in the sampled output signal. The bit stream processor is adapted for synchronizing the first clock signal to an external protocol timing of the incoming bit stream.
