Abstract: A glass element having a thickness from 25 μm to 125 μm, a first primary surface, a second primary surface, and a compressive stress region extending from the first primary surface to a first depth, the region defined by a compressive stress GI of at least about 100 MPa at the first primary surface. Further, the glass element has a stress profile such that it does not fail when it is subject to 200,000 cycles of bending to a target bend radius of from 1 mm to 20 mm, by the parallel plate method. Still further, the glass element has a puncture resistance of greater than about 1.5 kgf when the first primary surface of the glass element is loaded with a tungsten carbide ball having a diameter of 1.5 mm.

Abstract: Embodiments of thermally and chemically strengthened glass-based articles are disclosed. In one or more embodiments, the glass-based articles may include a first surface and a second surface opposing the first surface defining a thickness (t), a first CS region comprising a concentration of a metal oxide that is both non-zero and varies along a portion of the thickness, and a second CS region being substantially free of the metal oxide of the first CS region, the second CS region extending from the first surface to a depth of compression of about 0.17•t or greater. In one or more embodiments, the first surface is flat to 100 μm total indicator run-out (TIR) along any 50 mm or less profile of the first surface. Methods of strengthening glass sheets are also disclosed, along with consumer electronic products, laminates and vehicles including the same are also disclosed.

Abstract: A glass substrate formed from a glass composition is disclosed. In embodiments, the composition comprises: from 60 mol. % to 75 mol. % SiO2; from 2 mol. % to 15 mol. % Li2O; from 1.9 mol. % to 15 mol. % Y2O3; and at least one of B2O3 and Na2O. B2O3+Na2O is from 2 mol. % to 13 mol. %. Y2O3+Al2O3 is from 10 mol. % to 24 mol. %. A ratio R2O/Al2O3 is from 0.5 to 4, where R2O is a total concentration of Li2O, Na2O, K2O, Rb2O, and Cs2O. (R2O+RO)/Al2O3 is from 0.5 to 4.5, where RO is a total concentration of BeO, MgO, CaO, SrO, and BaO. The glass substrate has a Young's modulus from 75 gigapascals (GPa) to 110 GPa. The glass substrate is ion exchangeable to form a strengthened glass article.

Abstract: A glass includes from 42 mol % to 47 mol % P2O5, from 42 mol % to 48 mol % CuO, and from greater than 0 mol % to 15 mol % Fe2O3. The glass is an amorphous, single-phase glass. Methods of making a glass article include heating batch materials to a melting temperature from 900° C. to 1350° C. In aspects, methods include pouring the molten glass in an inert gaseous environment, and cooling the molten glass in the inter gaseous environment. In aspects, methods include cooling the molten glass to form the glass article and annealing the glass article without growing crystals in or on the glass article during the cooling or the annealing.

Abstract: Scratch and damage resistant laminated glass articles are disclosed. According to one aspect, a laminated glass article may include a glass core layer formed from core glass composition and includes a core glass elastic modulus EC and at least one glass clad layer fused directly to the glass core layer. The at least one glass clad layer may be formed from an ion exchangeable clad glass composition different than the core glass composition and includes a clad glass elastic modulus ECL. The laminated glass article may have a total thickness T and the at least one glass clad layer may have a thickness TCL that is greater than or equal to 30% of the total thickness T. EC may be at least 5% greater than ECL.
